An A today is not the same A from thirty years ago. A parent asked me last week why her son has a C in my class when he has an A in another one. The C isn’t mysterious. He doesn’t turn in work. He doesn’t study. He does other things during class. But what she really wanted to know was why he couldn’t get an A here, too. The honest answer is this: the floor has quietly dropped over the years. We kept the same letters on the report card, but what they actually mean has changed. In my classroom, an A still means a student can do the work the grade says they can do. They showed up ready. They practiced. They retained the language. It’s earned. I still protect that kind of A, even when it makes conversations harder. After thirty years at this door, I owe them that much. @SharylAttkisson We use AAA often. In the city we’re always rescued in less than 1 hour. It depends on the quantity of sub-contracted tow trucks in the area - densely populated areas is often only 15 min wait. In the woods/sticks you might need to wait longer for them to reach you. So worth it!

If you have used them for things like flat tire or dead battery… How quick can they get there on average? I use my regular insurance but it takes hours and hours sometimes for a response on site.

Is AAA still a thing? Or do most people get those roadside services through their regular car insurance?

For anyone who uses StubHub to buy/sell tickets, a cautionary post... I purchased four tickets to all three sessions of March Madness in St Louis on March 20 and 22 for $2000 total. When Illinois did not end up in the STL bracket, I sold the tickets on Stubhub on March 15...

We don’t want to give Congress the ability to spend taxpayer money on unauthorized items (Imagine the pork projects). But congress should lose their pay during shutdowns they caused.

Congress power of the purse should not give members the ability to withhold government employee pay. In the private sector, a business would never consider this as a viable option. It’s is past time that members of congress start living in the real world. @LeaderJohnThune @SpeakerJohnson

Jimmy Gracey He was last seen at the Shoko Beach Bar on surveillance cameras after 3 AM. According to Barcelona papers, they believe foul play based on this video. I know that 3 AM seems so late, but that is only 8 PM Alabama time. Further, Spanish culture is so different. Split shifts with 2 hour breaks mid-day, followed by late evening dinners. Shoko closes at 6 a.m. I fear for Jimmy Gracey. Was he lured and robbed or worse? Did he fight? He was 6'1". Who the heck had his cell phone and why would they keep it knowing it could be tracked? Then tried thick plastic to replace the delicate fly away nature, the .10 cost was to discourage use, but it failed, created more waste. Now renewable paper bags

Yup, ironically I’m using more plastic now and even BUYING plastic liner bags for all our house trash cans bc those thick bags are basically not reusable. Maybe I’ll reuse once (rarely) to carry something else in, but then I have lots of non plastic grocery bags already. They need to bring back the thin plastic bags bc those are perfect as second-life trash can liners

In towns where they've outlawed plastic bags, something worse has replaced them. THICKER plastic bags. Companies get away with it by saying they are reusable and washable. I guarantee nobody is washing and reusing these 125 times. So, double the plastic is being thrown out.

Weeks into Nancy Guthrie case and the public has not been asked to look out for any type of car. Reminder, Tucson says it does not have traffic cameras that record. Pima County says it does have cameras but they're not always crystal clear. Of course, look at Nancy's Nest cam -- if Feds want video of a car they may just find it, but in general NO description of ANY car in this day and age with cameras everywhere seems remarkable.
