Wemby absolutely hit a point where he was just like “fine, if you can hit me, I can hit you too” but he is so long and lanky it’s soooo much more obvious when he does it 😭

Any Spurs fan that watched every game and knows ball can back this up: The playoffs changed Wemby. During the regular season, you never heard a peep about "dirty player" or flagrants because all of the arm hooking, jersey yanking, and thigh grabbing was a foul in the regular season. If players get called for a foul, theyre less encouraged to play that way. When the refs don't discourage rough play, a player will try to discourage it. I think the refs and the league backed themselves into a corner by allowing too much roughness. If you suspend wemby then you get lots of calls and complaints from the spurs front office saying "here are all of the uncalled fouls that led up to the flagrant." Was it a flagrant when Wemby pushed Brunson by the neck? ABSOLUTELY lol Would he have pushed him if Brunson wasn't pulling his jersey? No. But the most important question is, would Brunson have been pulling his jersey at all if the refs were consistently and correctly calling it a foul? Probably not. I came away w/ little respect for how these Spurs approached this series. From the coach to the players to that cartoon music. Total lack of humility, intelligence, or class. A team built on tanking that totally tanked in the brightest lights

@RatioNChill That's not an actual rule. It's not considered a foul if the ball is dislodged, which is why I'm questioning it because the ball doesn't look dislodged.
If you hit the ball in any sense, that does not mean all subsequent contact is legal.

Again, Fox shouldn’t have attempted this lay-up, but he clearly has possession of the ball & the contact to the wrist/forearm is what caused the ball to die and just hit the backboard.
The NBA just can’t admit this is a foul because of the historic implications. They don’t want an asterisk

I think one thing that gets lost in the discourse of this play it the way things are normally expected to go in sports. You CAN retaliate like this to send a message, its a well known thing. BUT you also normally eat the penalty for it. It not dirty but Wemby shouldve got a Flag

What's also wild about this sequence is that Brunson was clearly angry but able to keep his cool (while Wemby smirked)
If JB had immediately shoved Wemby (or worse), the refs would have blown their whistles to call a technical on Brunson.
But they then would also have been forced to review the entire sequence, which likely would have resulted in a Flagrant on Wembanyama.
