N₂O: Know the Risks

@BBCLondonNews filmed a workshop that @N2OKnowTheRisks provided to young people at @LiC_Projects. Our campaign is run by medical students from @QMULBartsTheLon. Our workshops aim to provide education about neurological and spinal cord damage from nitrous oxide.

Do you have any materials we can use for a public campaign to persuade local yp not to use N2O as the got-to recreational passtime? It's a big problem in CR4 1 postcode area.

Like clockwork, #nitrousoxide cylinders appear outside the @NHSBartsHealth Royal London Hospital and @QMULBartsTheLon Garrod Building after a Friday night. Very keen to make an awareness poster for this hotspot of using #laughinggas if local organisations are willing!

@shivani_g22 @ProdByWalkz Yeah bad idea! Inhaling direct from cylinders/canisters can collapse the lung... not to mention how cold the compressed gas is as it comes out! Some people have inhaled with cylinders between the thighs and got cold burns as a result!

Last week, the first nitrous oxide training session was delivered to Tower Hamlets Enforcement Officers by Devan Mair and Arifur Rahman. The training, a partnership with the council a d Queen Mary University, tackles the increasing and dangerous use of NOX in Tower Hamlets.

The curiosity of young people is amazing and shouldn’t be stifled. However, it is society’s responsibility to empower them with knowledge as you mention, so that curiosity does not result in harm to themselves. But a national PSHE strategy for #nitrousoxide is still absent…
