@NAHBEECH @interstatejuche OPEC is an oil cartel with membership of most oil producing countries to control the supply and thus price of it. If countries leave it that means that they can in theory produce more than the org allowed and more oil in production means cheaper prices for things like gas.

@CovfefeAnon Certain types love saying her villains are ridiculous and heavy handed but you can find literal 1:1 versions of them alive, today, doing exactly the things she wrote about. Normally fiction undershoots or overshoots but she got that aspect 100% dead on and it's mildly creepy

Leftists shriek at Ayn Rand because for all the flaws in her world-view, she is absolutely totally spot on about their psychology and how they operate as an egregore where communication between them is done via subtext and hinting to sway the swarm [Lee Kwan Yew's book is also great but that's not the one that was marked as being the center of the conversation on the "What's happening" panel]

A few good books worth reading: - Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - a classic that celebrates builders. Once you read it, you’ll notice the same characters and events taking place today. - The Changing World Order by Ray Dalio - great for understanding how civilizations rise and fall and how crypto can help create better countries. - From Third World to First by Lee Kuan Yu (founder of Singapore) - talks about building a new country, worth reading for understanding nation-building.

@sp3y3der I think the US has tried for long enough to consider it a lost cause, you can't stop someone from jumping off a cliff unless you're going to devote your entire life to it and europe is dead set on destroying itself

The Falklands war already contains the lesson here... Publicly: America tried to stay “neutral” and pushed diplomacy because Argentina was a Cold War anti-communist partner in Latin America. That felt like betrayal to Britain. Sound familiar? But privately / practically: the US gave Britain crucial support: intelligence, use of Ascension Island, logistics, fuel, and Sidewinder missiles. So in some ways it is similar to how America feels betrayed that the UK didn’t publicly support the Iran war, while the special relationship is still operationally functional in the background, MI6 whispers, intelligence flows, and the smaller machinery still turning between us. I get why Trump thinks punishing allies and instructing the Pentagon to find creative ways to do it is in his mind a good idea. But frankly I don't think hes reading the room well. The US, though showing a might needed since Biden weakened the optics of America, is actually starting to have another effect, the US is isolating itself. Its making Russia seem more practical and justified for its actions. And its now making China seem the most measured and level headed super power in the world. A real opportunity for them to forge stronger alliances. But by contrast taken to the extreme this is how America could end up with no "real" friends but Israel on the current path. For the record im pro America being the dominant power, and I think Britain could have handled this much better so I get it and I hate the current weak and pathetic UK government and its policies. I do like aspects of America putting itself first after for so long letting others take advantage. I just would prefer to see (maybe under a different government), the UK and US back to the special relationship status, and the world trust the US again not worried about sudden tarriff attacks or threats of invasion or force. I know the landscape is changing, the rule based system is collapsing and whos got the bigger guns is the one that can bend the rules. I merely think, perhaps there exists a better way to work with allies while they remain so, and also allies need to do more to prove they can be trusted allies. Theres fault all round, and for the sake of the emerging world, there needs to be some human sense of friendship and allyship again as opposed to becoming purely transactional. Emotion isnt always the enemy, sometimes its that basic emotion that can go a long way in diplomatic relations. Fear though is probably the most short term attractive long term devasting one there is. Curious to know other peoples views on this and how they see the direction the world is going in?

I don’t know that it’s been conclusively proven (yet) that he was or is taking money from leftist NGOs, but would anyone be surprised at this point? Even his retarded followers would accept it and say it was justified for whatever reason.

@NAHBEECH @DanTalks1 Saving them from non-existent nukes they wouldn’t use preemptively if they had them. Huge win for bozo the president, only cost us a thousand or so soldiers, a few hundred billion dollars and permanent diplomatic damage.

The big pivot in the Trump administration seems to be: 2025 was about Shock and Awe, 2026 is about quiet results. In order to win the midterms, Trump's bureaucracy is doing things quietly offscreen; they've realized voters don't want to see how the sausage gets made.
