@OMPTGUY @OrthopaedicAPTA Agreed. Why is an exam necessary? Why not as an outcome of residency, a suffocatingly regulated, rigorous, structured program involving ongoing and frequent assessment and reflection…of didactic and clinical practice.

Some say getting an OCS is too hard! 🫣 Long process 😵‍💫 Massive amount of info 😳 Feelings of imposter syndrome But… it doesn’t have to be. Here’s what we mean.

Great day one at @NAIOMT lumbopelvic course! Good discussions on early manual intervention, under dosing exercise, stability vs controlled mobility, and future of cash based PT!

@NAIOMT @LeighADPT I think another way to view that piece is: if you wanted something changed in your scope of practice, how would you change it? You could start at your state level, but having national support, organization, process, procedure in place helps with continuity across state lines.

@RedefineConEd An issue as old as time, prolonging a problem due to self-financial interests. An advocacy body engaging in regulation. Obvious conflict of interest. There is no logical stance for not having a single, national process. It’s corrupt. Thanks for shining a light!!. Brett W.

I reached out to the APTA & FSBPT on this to try to gain support - no time, no staff, no interest, no money… and frankly, I was threatened (yes, actually) and warned by multiple people not to go down this road due the incredible financial interest by state chapters and boards.

RC 19-22: waiting for someone to speak up about the outrageous cost associated with state by state CEU approval #aptaHOD absolutely no surprise that the @APTAtweets BOD voted in opposition. Also no surprise that TX wanted to be clear that APTA wouldn’t start up a process…

@PracticeMoving I've been working as a S&C coach alongside PTs for going on 18 years. This post defines the problem that permeates the PT field - an inability to appropriately assess capacity, determine initial loading, and properly grade progression. Underdosing has become normal.

@Bray_Brayyy Continue to see this statement in many locales; curious as to the supporting data? Is there something publicly available? An analysis?

I know the evidence is mixed on whether the GRE is inequitable. However, I’ll throw my anecdotal opinion as someone applying to HSR/Health Policy PhD programs this coming cycle who was born in Colombia, was undocumented for 13 years, low income parents, and 1st Gen 1/4

12yr old athletes in kinesio tape carrying their recovery bag containing a massage gun, foam roller, and compression sleeves, while having a weekly cupping/needling session is a pretty clear sign that adults are doing it all wrong for their long term athletic development. #gym

@ptreviewer One of the problems is that this process is codified in so many state regs and statutes. Makes change very difficult. ProCert was a start towards sanity, but it collapsed under its own weight…so we’re back to the mercy and INSANITY of individual state boards…

The CEU industry for physical therapy needs a complete overhaul. From content to regulation and approval; so many problems. The fact that physical therapists are expected to maintain their competency through a process which at times is completely incompetent makes no sense.
