@mattyglesias When AIPAC is singled out at a time where the government of Qatar, China and various other countries are buying influence via university donations, and media orgs, I think he has a point on the assault on the Jewish identity

There's a set of anti-woke Jewish center-right people who can't see the extent to which their discursive modes around Israel just recapitulate everything that's pathological about left-wing identity politics, just with a somewhat arbitrarily different valence.

@bgabriel80 @WhickTv Mamdani wasn’t radical. He won by focusing on kitchen table issues here at home and ran a pro-NYC, pro-America campaign. Hasan will say things in that vein then starts going off the rails about Mao and Putin, which kinda undercuts the whole pro-America thing . Mixed messaging

@WhickTv Hasan…..isn’t really that extreme if you listen to him. He’s not our Nick Fuentes at all. People acting like Mamdani is a radical are missing the point of the moment here. You don’t get what you want by half measures. The timidity of the Democrats has been our downfall.

The case for Hasan Piker as a Democratic asset assumes he -is interested in political power -is willing to help Democrats Neither are true Hes made no effort to build a movement, fight for a cause, mobilize his base. Nothing. Politics is to Hasan as $1M is to Mr.Beast: content
Lauren Egan@Lauren_V_Egan

NEW: I wrote about the Hasan Piker debate and how it is testing the limits of Dems "big tent." If democracy really is at risk, do Dems have the luxury of alienating someone like Piker, or do they have to make political alliances with people who have said questionable things on the internet? thebulwark.com/p/how-big-is-t…

@NickyFrank30 Even now, his recent pod with Dave Smith was probably 60-70% straight MMA talk. Stuff like that is why he retains his core audience. Hasan exclusively makes “narcissist ranting into a camera about politics” content which is more on the Fuentes or Asmongold spectrum.

Rogan is mostly political now, but that's not what attracted his audience at the start. It was that he would interview fascinating people who did fascinating things completely unrelated to politics. It's not like Hasan Piker is doing three-hour interviews with distance runners, or venture capitalists funding a way to listen to fish speak or something.

Oh FFS. His listenership does not overlap with the manosphere, and he is not nearly as well known as everyone thinks he is. Piker’s own audience survey shows that over 40 percent of his viewership is LGBTQ, and a plurality of his audience are millennials, not even Zoomers. The American Man Project, which was launched to study podcasts like Rogan and the entertainment popular with men, shows that only about half of Zoomers even know who Piker is, and only 20 percent of young men hold a favorable view of Piker. His favorability ratings with those who know him are negative. He is not the liberal Joe Rogan. He is the anti-Joe Rogan.
Jacobin@jacobin

Democrats spent the last year asking where their Joe Rogan was. Hasan Piker is one of the few left-wing figures with the audience they covet — but the party is deeply hostile to the spontaneity and independence that make figures like him appealing. jacobin.com/2026/03/democr…

@JonnyRoot_ @dekker I’d guarantee the NBA has a higher % of evangelicals than the NHL.. I’ve been to games and many teams form a prayer circle after the buzzer. Ivey got cut for his general conduct and being a disruption who wasn’t worth the trouble, not only that comment x.com/thenbabase/sta…
NBA Base@TheNBABase

Internal issues leading to Jaden Ivey’s exit from the Bulls, per @JCowleyHoops - Destroyed the locker room “sanctuary” - Constant preaching made players uncomfortable - Religious rhetoric “pressed” upon teammates daily - Told players who was “righteous and unrighteous” Bulls reportedly viewed the behavior as “weirdness” in the workplace.

90% of the NBA is not Christian. People may proclaim Christ, but they don’t actually believe what the Bible says. If that many players were Christian, they would be defending a persecuted brother, and would stand against pride and the celebration of it, just like Jaden Ivey has. The NBA is the most godless, left-wing men pro sports league in America. Justifying this act of clear Christian discrimination, is beneath you.

This isn’t meant to come off as a knock to CE. I’m a Christian - and a basketball player. 90% of the NBA is openly Christian. What I find maddening in all this is Christians online twisting the story into “Ivey got waived because he is a Christian.” That’s just a false statement and you’re pushing drama even further. There are guys that proclaim their faith all over the NBA - it’s a shared faith. There are pre-game Chapel services in EVERY arena where guys come together to worship. There are post-game prayer communities that are visible to fans and cameras. This isn’t an intolerance issue by the NBA. Far from it. The league wants guys to proclaim what they believe. With that; You will be fired in ANY job where you become a workplace nightmare. If you continually disrupt the peace and happiness of your colleagues, you will be held accountable. It’s as simple as that.

2028 Dems should tell every interest group with a blog trying to corner them on their random obsession to eat shit. Equally true for centrist and progressive groups. Ossoff does not need to weigh in on Hasan discourse or trans prisoner surgeries unless he wants to.
David Weigel@daveweigel

Reading the Jewish Insider newsletter, wonder if we're reaching Hasan Derangement Syndrome. Ossoff could suffer by not responding to questions about how Hasan likes him as a candidate?
