A-10 needs to get off of the Sunday championship game and finish earlier in week. The main reason VCU could get left out with a loss is that it’s the easiest thing for the committee to do in spite of having a stronger WAB than the bubble. Sunday games put committee in a bind.

@SBUnfurled This was excellent. I totally believe that Schmidt wouldn’t want all of the pomp and circumstance around his departure. He’s so humble and has always deflected praise to players and folks around him. So the public outcry is unwarranted, as he would never make it about himself.

College basketball data analyst Ken Pomeroy noticed another shift: more games this season had much higher pregame win probabilities in his ratings. He says he believes the transfer portal has strengthened elite teams and widened the gap between the top and bottom of Division I.

Mark Schmidt rebuilt the program from the depths of hell to an A10 Champion in five years. He'll be with Bob Lanier, the Stith brothers, and Andrew Nicholson in Bona lore. Record be damned, the Reilly Center should be packed Saturday to give an ovation his legacy calls for.
