A major reason soccer will never supplant America’s core professional sports is because we value physical bravery above all other attributes in our sports stars.
Curt Schilling’s bloody sock.
Ronnie Lott chopping off the tip of his finger so he could stay in the game.
Mark Bavaro dragging half the 49ers’ secondary while his broken jaw was wired shut.
Michael Jordan having the best game of his life with a 103 degree fever.
Willis Reed limping onto the floor for Game 7.
Lou Gehrig playing with ALS until his body said “no more.”
Dave Dravecky pitching so hard that his arm had to be amputated.
Kirk Gibson hobbling to the plate in the 9th.
Tiger Woods winning the US Open on a knee that days later required reconstructive surgery.
Kerri Strug sticking the landing on her busted ankle for the gold.
Sure, we have our LeBron Jameses acting like little babies, but the one thing I learned about futbol during the World Cup is that acting like a little injured baby is not only not frowned upon, it is ENCOURAGED as a strategic advantage.
Americans want stoic heroes who persevere through pain. Soccer ain’t that, at least not in the day-to-day elements of the game.
That’s why soccer will never be anything other than second-rate in the USA.

@Beowulfs_Kin @CalltoActivism Because the rest of the world understands that Trump is an asshole. Only a few MAGA retards still don't get it.
English

@NHOwl123 @CalltoActivism And what makes you think the booing came from the visitors instead of the homegrown Trump hating New York area Democrats?
English

@GP1867 To be fair, it’s been a welcome break after last season’s disaster.
English

@Beowulfs_Kin @CalltoActivism You do know that very large percentage of the people there were not from the USA right? It was a game between Spain and Argentina. It just happened to be in New York/New Jersey.
English

@CalltoActivism Trump being booed in deep blue New York/New Jersey - an area if the country that elected socialist Mamdani?
Shocked, shocked I tell you. 🙄

@politvidchannel I’ve assumed for a while that several countries would have made it their business to get copies if the unredacted files. I have no knowledge but this administration is so full of incompetent shills that I’m sure several have managed it.
English

@Davo_Mack England got to the semi final. Fancied teams like Morocco and Brazil weren’t good enough to get that far. They must have beaten some absolute crap at the group stage.
English

@SinoopyS @PoliticalMonitr That’s all the US will be doing when the strategic petroleum reserve runs out.
English

@NHOwl123 @PoliticalMonitr As measured by what? The desperate fever dreams of our enemies?
They can suck wind.
English

The #Falklands play was written using official minutes and records. Maggie knew the score. And she took zero shit from the US “peace” delegation! ENJOY!!!
#England #Argentina #Thatcher
English

@SinoopyS @PoliticalMonitr The UK realizes it is in decline. The US just hasn’t realized it yet.
English

@PoliticalMonitr If the UK has embraced managed decline, then the US strategizes in that context.
If the UK shows us they have a pulse and want to live then we will change our thinking.
I don't think we're being unreasonable.
Find your fury, cousins.
God save England.
English

@DudiYehudi @NileGardiner You lost to Iran. And if you think America is the free world I've got news for you. Idiot.
English

@NileGardiner Ahem. American here. Ya know, the country that beat your arse twice & saved your arse more than that. You literally stole the islands. So go back to kissing Muslim arse & leave the free world alone.
English

Every Argentine player in the English Premier League who took part in this ugly anti-British display should be stripped of their UK work visa. There should be zero tolerance for this.
Politics Global@PolitlcsGlobal
🚨🇫🇰 PICTURED: Argentina’s players hold up a sign saying “Las Malvinas” are Argentine This is factually inaccurate, as the Malvinas, officially named the Falkland Islands, are British
English

@chris_kammy He got the tactics wrong. You can’t sit back for 30 minutes against this team. And he didn’t need to, he had the options to take it to them.
English

@robstaton They missed a good chance today. Got the tactics wrong last 30 minutes.
English

@EricLDaugh The US lost to Iran. No amount of grift is going to change that.
English

🚨 HOLY SMOKES. President Trump announces the United States will take 20% PERCENT TOLLS on all Strait of Hormuz traffic, and will now be known as “THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT"
Effective IMMEDIATELY.
Iran is FUMING
"We are reinstating the THE IRANIAN BLOCKADE, so named because it is only stopping Iran’s ships or customers from entering or leaving. All other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait. The U.S.A. will be, from this point forward, known as “THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,” but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the World. The process and formation will begin immediately."
English

@RpsAgainstTrump No. It will just be more self-serving bullshit with a side order of grievance.
English

@AllisonPearson Really? And there was silly me thinking it was Nigel Forage’s party that is stirring up hatred in impressionable young men. Thanks for the clarification.
English

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey said the biggest threat to UK was not Russia or Iran but Reform UK.
Such irresponsible (blatantly absurd) demonisation of Nigel Farage’s party could stir up hatred in impressionable young men online,
Was dear Reformer Ann Widdecombe a victim of “online hate” spread by hysterical, poisonous progressives?
If so the self-righteous left has a lot to answer for.
English

@nicksortor If transparency is the big thing then there’s some unredacted Epstein files that we should start with.
English

@darrengrimes Why don’t you just wait and find out? Stop speculating? Let’s the police do their work? Ah, no “engagement” that way.
English

@meljomur I wonder if it’s a source of irritation that many English people wanted Scotland to do well in the World Cup. We knew they wouldn’t but we were cheering for them anyway…
English

According to Tim Vickery on the BBC website today, Argentina fans see England as their biggest rivals and were bouncing up and down last night singing “he who doesn’t jump is an Englishman”. Where could they possibly have got that from? @YesWeCrann @robstaton @AlexJPMiller @swfc
