Today in Kolkata, wore a Modi jacket and dupatta made from jute-based fabric developed by the jute industry — a blend of 60% jute with cotton and viscose. This reflects the new direction of India’s jute sector. Jute is no longer limited to bags; it is now entering the world of wearable textiles and fashion. Diversification of jute and new-age fibres will create greater value for our farmers, artisans and industry. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we are committed to transforming traditional fibres into modern, high-value products that generate higher income and new opportunities across the textile ecosystem.
