Churchgate - Virar - 83 kms - 1 hour 30 mins CST - Kalyan - 60 kms - 57 mins CST - Panvel - 47 kms - 1 hour 33 mins The airport and panvel terminus are getting ready in the next few years, for them to be successful the harbour line capacity needs to be augmented in a huge way.

Major failures daily in the harbour line with no plan for any capacity addition or alternative mass transit. With the airport incoming and loads of mass housing projects, it is an urgent need to plan a fast line and other metro connectivity between NM and rest of MMR.

Terrific new trail discovered in SGNP today Rode with a offroading group for the first time. Got a real appreciation of the strengths of MTBs 😁 My gravel, with narrower tires and no suspension, bounced like crazy over the rocky trails, close to the limit #mumbaicycling

@NM_Transit_ @streetfrontier Yeah, I wasn’t very articulate there. I totally agree that we must have segregated cycling lanes. Paint on a road has no meaning apart from looking pretty.

@KUnknown3371 @streetfrontier No doubt it's great, but for cycle paths to be useful they need to be there for commuters not hobby cyclists. Pedestrians will always prefer footpaths if they are free of encroachment and safer.

Have you noticed this trend: In the past few years, most new trains introduced by Indian Railways have been either Vande Bharat (premium, short-distance) or Amrit Bharat (non-AC, long-distance for lower fares). But where are the regular long-distance trains? Since COVID, very few new long-distance services have been introduced, and the impact is clearly visible. Getting a confirmed ticket on busy routes has become a nightmare. Instead, we see: • “Special” trains that aren't punctual • Additional halts slowing down existing services • Extensions of current trains instead of introducing new ones This isn’t about opposing Vande Bharat or Amrit Bharat, they serve their purpose well. But what about the millions of long-distance passengers? Most long-distance trains today are running over capacity, yet there’s little focus on expanding services, as a rail enthusiast, it’s hard to even recall a significant number of new long-distance trains added in recent years. It’s high time @RailMinIndia prioritizes new long-distance trains on high-demand routes.

There used to be a time when the railways/central govt gave some bhaav to harbour line/navi mumbai. With the VB metro and doubling of panvel karjat, this can easily be done in quicker time. Connectivity from pune to NMIA is also sorted with this archive.ph/20130123013153…

As a country with tropical climate, India needs mass cooling solutions. Almost 6 decades ago, Lee Kuan Yew started completely air conditioning Singapore. He credited air conditioning as one of the most significant factors in the nation's success. He believed that physical comfort was a prerequisite for high productivity in the tropics. To quote Lee Kuan Yew: "Air conditioning was a most important invention for us, perhaps one of the signal inventions of history. It changed the nature of civilization by making development possible in the tropics. Without air conditioning, you can only work in the early morning hours or dusk. The first thing I did upon becoming Prime Minister was to install air conditioners in buildings where the civil service worked. This was the key to public efficiency." Yesterday our central minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that he doesn't use AC in his car, he doesn't sit in air conditioned environment and he just keeps an onion in the pocket to beat the heat. He implied that is an easy and inexpensive way to beat the heat. It is well known that Scindia's home, office and luxury cars are equipped with AC. Telling ordinary Indians to keep an onion in the pocket to beat the heat is mockery of our people. We don't have what is required to become a Singapore. Our minister is no Lee Kuan Yew. The least Scindia can do is not to talk this kind of unscientific crap. There is no slightest evidence that keeping an onion in your pocket would help you beat the heat.

Every year, despite drawing hefty salaries, officials fail to manage the same predictable crowd situations. The same failures repeat, again and again.
