@DanWetzel The NCAA is the member institutions. They essentially govern themselves. The NCAA is not an independent 3rd party. The schools with the "P"ower all want to be included in the tournament thus why expansion will occur. Stop blaming the "NCAA", the institutions want this.

The NCAA desperately needs "political" support -- both from actual politicians and the general public. Its president, Charlie Baker, is a former politician and surely understands this. Why it keeps barreling ahead with an unpopular and unnecessary change that weakens support remains baffling. The additional money is minimal.

"I am adamantly opposed." "This doesn't move the needle at all." "It should be a privilege to play in the tournament, not a right." As we wait for official word, some of CBB's biggest coaches share their gripes with March Madness expansion to @CBSSports.cbssports.com/college-basket…

@NWTaxman I think it's coming. Youth sports will become another version of pro sports, at least in some communities.

The Brantmeier v. NCAA settlement has led to the NCAA dropping prize money restrictions on athletes before they enter college. The change makes sense and promotes fairness, but it's also a sign of the times with more kids and teenagers making money: sportico.com/law/analysis/2….

The Sixers won three playoff games in Boston from 1983 through Game 1 of this series. Then they won three in the span of 12 days.

@statsbywill This is coaching malpractice. You don't have 1 play to get you a layup? This solo 3 chucking offense is absurd.

@Mike_Jagacki @bballbreakdown @DasmrSutton @cgp42 You've actually got it. You just think still pictures prove something it doesn't. Reaves is never legal and just at the time he has any chance he reaches as well. Any contact is Reaves' responsibility by rule. If he had slid and given space instead as in the other clip he is good

@Mike_Jagacki @bballbreakdown @DasmrSutton @cgp42 Player in white is giving space and only until the player in green initiates with an outstretched arm with contact is there any call to make. Reaves is doing the opposite creating contact as he swipes at the ball not in LGP AND gets his ankle stepped on by the offensive player.

@downthebyline 1st team v 2nd team could be similar to Royals and Storm Chasers. Semi local 3 hr drive away affiliates to be able to go back and forth.

So would SKCII move to Wichita? Columbia? Go up against Union Omaha in Omaha? Go somewhere the USL is already looking at like Springfield or Des Moines? Also curious how this will affect things like academy players & first team loans playing with the II teams.

@PlayFor90 Doesn't seem at all feasible for clubs such as SKC that depend so heavily on younger Academy players to fill SKCII's roster. I'd think this only works for 2nd teams that are fully professional rostered.

@CBB_Central Why is it logical that every class since about 2018 has gotten to play 5 years, and every class after this year will get 5... but this ONE class (4 in 4 people) gets 4 years? It won't stand up in court.

@WinterSportsLaw Today there are medical and noncompeting redshirts of which there are many that would and do fall under the exceptions in order to compete a 4th season. Would no longer need to be concerned with any of that admin work with 5/5. I don't see anyone calling for hard 4/4.

An important byproduct of the NCAA’s proposed age based eligibility rule for many sports. Not really sure why there’s a move to 5 years when you think about it. It’s not more legally defensible than 4 years. And you don’t create the issues like this that will arise.
Marsha Lycan@mlycan12

Wondering if the NCAA and @CharlieBakerMA have realized the implementation of the 5th year coupled with Roster limits (28 is not fair and equitable for soccer) WILL result in players being cut since most women’s soccer programs have already finished recruiting their HS class of 2027 WITHOUT FACTORING IN 5th years! Will you be granting DSA status to those declaring 5th years so they won’t count against roster limits? If not it seems we’re facing the same lawsuits created when athletes unfairly lost spots when roster limits were mandated. #DSA #RosterLimits #NCAAEligibility
