Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today, we celebrate the rich history of the Irish-American community in New York and their incredible contributions to the NYPD. The NYPD is proud to be home to so many Irish-Americans and to celebrate these beautiful traditions.

The Support Services Division proudly congratulates Monique M. Chappell and Jasmine J. Elcock on their promotion to Evidence and Property Control Specialist II, and Vivian H. Malarkey on her promotion to Deputy Director of Support Services Division Fiscal Unit.

Thanksgiving is a time for coming together, cherishing past moments, and creating new ones. On this day, we express gratitude for the blessings in our lives, including our loved ones and our community. Wishing you a joyful and secure Thanksgiving.

During this Thanksgiving season, the NYPD family gathered together to give thanks to the civilian and uniformed members of this department for their exemplary work and achievements in service to this city. Family and friends beamed with pride as they watched their loved ones cross the stage in recognition of their hard work. Congratulations to all!

Today, @NYPDPC Jessica Tisch was officially sworn in to lead the nation's largest police department, focusing on enhancing community engagement and advancing the department's public safety mission. Before her appointment as Commissioner of @NYCSanitation, Commissioner Tisch served for 12 years at the NYPD, where she was the Deputy Commissioner for the Information Technology Bureau. Please join us in welcoming her back, this time as Police Commissioner Tisch, as she steps into this pivotal role.

Since the early 20th century, the @NYPD40Pct has been a cornerstone of public safety for the communities of Mott Haven, Melrose, and Port Morris. Today, we celebrated the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art station house, equipped with the first ever dedicated event space for community gatherings. A special thank you to @NYCMayor Adams for your dedication to transforming public safety in our city, to Bronx Borough President @Vanessalgibson for always championing progress in the Bronx, and to the @NYCDDC for bringing this vision to life for our department.

Fleet Section Police Officer Zachary Subramany shared a brief historical background on the 1972 Gran Fury vintage vehicle recently showcased at the Veterans Day Parade. Each of our vintage vehicles is a glimpse into the rich history of the Department.

We gathered to honor the legacy and memory of former Central Records Director Linda Scotti. Her innovation resulted in the implementation of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) which continues to serve as an effective, investigative tool for law enforcement.

Today, we gathered to dedicate a plaque in memory of Director Linda Scotti, who dedicated 30 years of service to the NYPD.   Her dedication and passion for her work have left an indelible mark on our department and the many lives she touched. As we unveil this plaque, we celebrate Linda's incredible contributions, her leadership, and the spirit of excellence she instilled in all of us. Though she may no longer be with us, her legacy continues to inspire our work every day. Thank you, Linda, for everything. You will forever be in our hearts.

During her 30-year career with the NYPD, Linda Scotti contributed greatly to its success. She helped 911 emergency operations, was a driving force behind increasing the operators' pay, and as Director of the Central Records Division, she developed initiatives that improved the way data was collected and stored. Linda's accomplishments were honored at today's plaque dedication ceremony held in the police headquarters lobby.

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served in the armed forces, including our brave veterans within the NYPD who continue to safeguard New York City. We express our gratitude for your service and dedication, made to ensure the safety of our nation and our local communities.

We will always remember Sgt. Paul J. Tuozzolo, a 19-year veteran from @NYPD43Pct, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on November 4, 2016. He and his family are forever in our thoughts and prayers.

This morning, we welcomed a new generation of highly trained and well-equipped police officers to the ranks of the NYPD. The shield pinned to their chest represents the promise they made, the oath they swore, and the call to service they answered. Congratulations to our graduates. Welcome to the greatest police department in the greatest city in the world.

On behalf of the Support Services Division, we congratulate Evidence and Property Control Specialist Rochelle Glover on her retirement. She encompasses the spirit of dedication with 28 years of service, and we wish her the best as she embarks on new chapters and adventures.

It’s official — the lines have been painted! This Sunday, NYC will proudly host the 53rd @nycmarathon. The NYPD, along with our dedicated partners, have been working diligently to guarantee a safe and successful race day for all participants and spectators.

In a city as diverse as NYC, officers will encounter people from diverse backgrounds who practice a wide range of religions. Today, recruits in the academy heard from religious leaders of the Muslim, Jewish, and Sikh faiths. They shared their unique perspectives and explained how understanding others' beliefs can help strengthen relationships with those we serve. Thank you to our extraordinary department chaplains and community partners who spent part of their day with NY's Finest.

This morning, officers across the city gathered for a moment of silence to honor those we lost twenty-three years ago.   The NYPD will #NeverForget.

Twenty-three years ago, our city, nation, and world changed forever. We will never forget the heroes who paid, and continue to pay, the ultimate sacrifice.

We gathered at the Erie Basin Auto Pound for the Plaque Dedication Ceremony honoring Police Officer Raul Colon. Police Officer Colon retired in 2023 from the Auto Pound Unit. May his legacy always be remembered. #NeverForget @NYPDnews

Congratulations to Police Officer Katelynn McLaughlin, recipient of a 2024 Traditional Scholarship! Officer McLaughlin met the challenge of pursuing a Graduate degree while continually advancing the mission objectives of the Support Services Division.
