Un tel comportement pourrait également s'expliquer par une différence dans la dynamique du groupe turbocompresseur. Un turbocompresseur présentant une inertie de rotation plus faible a en effet tendance à entrer en pression plus rapidement, favorisant ainsi la réponse immédiate du moteur à combustion interne lors des premières phases d'accélération. Dans le même temps, cependant, une solution de ce type peut s'avérer moins efficace pour maintenir la poussée à des vitesses plus élevées, où la continuité du flux énergétique devient plus importante. La comparaison entre McLaren et Ferrari met en revanche deux philosophies assez différentes en matière de performance. La Ferrari fait preuve d'une bonne efficacité dans les premières phases d'accélération grâce à sa traction et à la réactivité immédiate de son groupe motopropulseur, tandis que la McLaren parvient généralement à maintenir une poussée plus constante tout au long de la ligne droite. Là encore, l'écart tend à se creuser progressivement à mesure que la vitesse augmente, ce qui suggère que la quantité d'énergie électrique disponible dans la seconde partie des accélérations pourrait être inférieure pour Ferrari par rapport aux monoplaces propulsées par le groupe motopropulseur Mercedes.
