The software development jobs get killed. Cool, that's the story so far. What happens next? think 2nd order. What would a smart Software Engineer do? Two things:- 1) He/she will start exploring the edge cases of AI. What can AI do? (it can build things fast) What can AI + AI do? (AI can train other AI's) What can Human + AI do? That's where the market would move. This is horizontal problem solving. 2) He/she will also solve vertical problems. A great case study would be Product Managers. Go 5-10 year back: PMs used to Tech + Business guys. New vertical problems would be: AI + Business. How do you go out and convince clients that your AI (+ you) would add value to a business? Tech always enables faster solutions. We moved from physical books to webpages to mobile apps. At every state the tech improved. Did bookstores closes? Yes. Did webpages shut down? Yes. Will mobile apps die? Yes. But, like always-- we will move towards something better. As investors bet on companies that are solving sensible problems. And, have the resources to survive this period of uncertainty. Friedrich Nietzsche gave a quote: What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. In the AI world: if the AI is unable to kill your business. It will make you stronger (by de-facto killing your competitors). And, the economic pie would continue to expand.
