Many will find a way to get around it, but it's a good start and first step that stops a lot of direct BS, they'll have to do more steps to cheat, relying on a 3rd party is all. I've always proposed a solution that is better. Give them a proper salary that covers their expenses, but limit all income to just their congressional salary. They cannot sell or cash out on any stocks, assets, invest or spend their money in any way that isn't for their living expenses, leisure, charity, family. If they want to take income from a business or investments they should wait until out of office, and any outside income would go into a holding account until then where it just sits, no gains or interest. Also collecting after leaving office, should leave them unable to run for office again for 2 years. That would be the best system. It would force them to focus solely on their jobs in office, it would force them to actually make a choice or sacrifice. It would give them a vested interest in not tanking the value of the dollar. I would also say and include this applies to anybody that is their spouse, partner or living in their same residence.
