The Global Sumud Flotilla is still sailing, despite having been approached twice by unidentified vessels - believed to be Israeli navy - in the night. Updates: - It is now approaching 110 nautical miles of Gaza, close the point at which the Madleen was intercepted in June. (The Handala got closer than this, in July). - Some participants have been able to get a little bit of sleep - which is good, as depriving them of this could be an Israeli tactic. - The flotilla is currently 41 boats sailing together, with one more attempting to catch up (but some way behind). - One boat diverged off course in the night, and has now been removed from the tracker, suggesting it has left the mission. - Two observer boats, Shireen and Summertime, have hung back to avoid interception. - Life Support, the Italian NGO boat, said yesterday that it would also stop at an agreed point, as its mission is to observe and support the flotilla, but not to go all the way. Marine tracking data suggests it stopped yesterday. - The Italian naval frigate is believed to have left. - Spanish media has reported that Spain’s boat may be keeping a distance from the flotilla, but remains nearby. It will reportedly continue to 24 miles from the coast of Gaza, where territorial waters begin. - The location of Turkey's frigate is unknown.
