Today, @NatResources advanced the Great American Outdoors Act 250, bipartisan legislation to modernize and maintain America's national parks and recreation infrastructure. Alaska is home to some of the world's most iconic public lands, and investing in infrastructure and maintenance is critical to preserving access and ensuring responsible stewardship. As a proud cosponsor of this legislation, I'm pleased to support this effort to address maintenance backlogs and help ensure our public lands remain accessible for future generations of Americans.

Today, the @NatResources Committee, on which I serve, advanced the Great American Outdoors Act 250 to help address the maintenance backlog on our public lands, improve access for the people who use them, and ensure these lands remain available for future generations. Good stewardship begins with taking care of the assets we already have. By investing in needed repairs and infrastructure, we can better support recreation, public access, and responsible management of America’s public lands. #GAOA250

I recently had the opportunity to visit the XPRIZE Wildfire competition at Nenana Airport alongside Cathy Cahill, Director of the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration. It was impressive to see firsthand how innovators are developing autonomous technologies that can detect and respond to wildfires faster than ever before. As Alaska faces increasingly challenging wildfire seasons, early detection and rapid response can mean the difference between a small ignition and a devastating fire that threatens critical infrastructure, and natural resources. The recent wildfire activity near Anderson and Clear Space Force Station highlights exactly why these innovations matter. Investing in cutting-edge technology, strengthening our wildfire preparedness, and improving forest management must remain national priorities. That is why I am proud to co-sponsor the Fix Our Forests Act and support the work of the House Natural Resources Committee, which has made wildfire prevention and forest resilience a key priority this Congress. By combining responsible forest management with emerging technologies, we can reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires and better support our first responders. Thank you to the teams competing in Alaska, Cathy Cahill and her team, and everyone working to advance solutions that will help keep Alaskans safe.

The biggest obstacle to building a stronger critical minerals supply chain isn’t a lack of resources. It’s a lack of certainty. America has the talent, capital, and natural resources to lead. What we need is a permitting system that is predictable, durable, and capable of getting projects built. That only happens when both parties are willing to work together on long-term solutions. #CO03 Thank you to the U.S. Chamber for the opportunity to speak at the Critical Minerals Summit.
U.S. Chamber@USChamber

.@RepJeffHurd emphasized the need for a bipartisan approach to streamlining the permitting process, saying it “requires Republicans, Democrats coming together, because when you have wildly shifting policies... it's not good. It does not provide that stability and predictability that allows for that capital investment that we need.”
