This opener for Bad Bunny wasn’t very good. And the guys didn’t even kiss #tepidrivalry

@richarddeitsch She craved attention and she got it for all the wrong reasons. Part of life is learning when it is time to move on.

First there was the CBC broadcaster scream, then concern and horror for Lindsey Vonn. We saw Breezy Johnson having to sit forever after a historic run, knowing her US teammate had just been airlifted away. There were those close to Vonn sitting in the crowd in shock. Others in the crowd waving to the camera as if were just another sunny day in the mountains. Then there were the skiers yet to come trying to focus on their race and dreams.
A surreal morning in Cortina. But also an honest one. The cruelty and joys of sport at the highest level. And then people move on to the next event, to the next show.

Our @AP photographer Jacquelyn Martin got this incredible shot moments before Lindsey Vonn crashed at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

"Oh, so, you would compete with a torn ACL?"
No, I wouldn't, but that's why I'm not an Olympic athlete.
I never got up every morning at 4am to train all day for years. Decades.
I never froze my ass off while getting yelled at by a coach for small mistakes and asking if I really want this.
I never watched my family scrape together money for my training as a kid because I told them this is my dream and they believed in me.
I never worked shit jobs during those years of training as a teen and adult to support myself.
I never got injured and sucked it up and persevered.
So, no, I would not have raced because I'm not about that life and never have been.
That's what extraordinary about Lindsey Vonn.
She earned her way back onto Team USA through the same grit and excellence that have defined her career.
She didn't "steal a spot" from anyone.
She's 41 and came out of retirement and bested skiers much younger because she's simply the better athlete who put in the work.
She tore her ACL, consulted with medical experts who gave her the green light, decided to forge ahead, looked great in her training runs, and she was absolutely competitive for the medal stand.
That's the tragic irony of all this: she crashed because of something that could have happened to any skier, not because of her knee.
She knew something like that could happen, yet she still competed fearlessly. As she's always done.
It's why she's an Olympian, and you aren't.
English

NON PRO ATHLETES! @lindseyvonn didnt crash today because of her knee, she crashed cause she took a hard line at the gate & her pole wrapped it & flung her sideways! She raced TWICE on the knee & finished 11th & 3rd in training! this was a ski racing accident not a lack of an ACL.

i went to my bank last weekend to withdraw $10k in cash to buy pokemon cards at a show
banker: hello sir, what are you taking this money for?
me: because i want to take out cash
banker: i need you to give me a specific reason for our records
me: it's for a card show
banker: a car show? why do you need cash?
me: card show. pokemon cards. the vendors mainly deal with cash.
banker: why would you need to spend that much money on cards?
me: ...
banker: one second, let me check with my manager. next time, please call ahead!
it really didn't feel like it was my money. i ended up leaving and just borrowing cash from my friend.
English

@pass_kathe @MINHxDYNASTY You’re an imbecile. Was that too big a word for you?
English

@MINHxDYNASTY Actually, you better take out more because there is word of near future Bank runs where you will be limited to a daily withdrawal amount of $50 / person. Not kidding. At least give your friend back their money because otherwise they may not get it back for a while.
English

@MINHxDYNASTY Hi! Banker here. $10,000 is the threshold that triggers additional reporting due to Federal Laws. That is likely why you were asked questions.

@miles_commodore I recall reading an article about this performance a few years ago. It was pre-recorded (I am assuming most of them are) she did it once, and the rest is history.
English

@StevenWisdom13 @_AnonHater_ Valid point. But why does she have to be white in a nice neighborhood for us to care? And I am the whitest person in history!
English

@Nazten @_AnonHater_ I don’t think this is true.
If a 80+ white woman in a nice neighborhood is abducted out of her house, that’s instant megastory in the true crime TV era

@serenawilliams @Venuseswilliams I gotta be honest - I LOVED watching your mom during your matches because she applauded greatness regardless of who had hit the shot 😉
English

On this episode, @venuseswilliams and I revisit our childhood. From sharing one room to 'King Richard,' we talk about how our parents shaped us and the lessons we learned as the only Black girls in tennis.

@BillieJeanKing And yet you lobby for women’s events in Saudi Arabia. Pick a lane.

It's National Girls and Women in Sports Day!
When girls are given the chance to play, they gain confidence, friendships, and the belief that they belong everywhere.
Let's keep breaking barriers and investing in women's sports.

A clear picture of Wendy's once legendary Superbar (1980s).....
In 1980s, fast food briefly flirted with abundance. At its peak, the SuperBar was a bold experiment by Wendy’s, a self-serve, all-you-can-eat station inside select restaurants. Introduced nationwide in 1988, it featured rotating sections like salads, tacos, and pasta, refilled continuously and priced low enough to lure families and teens. At a time when salad bars symbolized freshness and value, the concept felt almost upscale for a burger chain.
Operationally, it was ambitious. Stores required extra staff, strict food-safety controls, and constant replenishment. When it worked, it worked big: locations with SuperBars often saw double-digit traffic lifts. But the economics were brutal. Food waste, long dwell times, and inconsistent execution eroded margins, and by the mid-1990s most units quietly removed the feature as Wendy’s refocused on speed and drive-thru efficiency.
The SuperBar lives on as a nostalgia icon, an era when fast food briefly invited you to linger.
Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas reportedly loved the idea but later admitted it was “too generous for its own good”, a rare case where customer delight outpaced profitability.

@OnDisasters @Keg767 Hearing the audio from the other aircraft that saw it happen haunts me to this day. They were in an inverted flat-spin, which is difficult in a Pitts Special let alone an MD-80, and fought until the very end.
English

@Keg767 True: they fought to the very end. The Mayday ACI episodes on this are documentaries, but that part is very emotional.

One thing I learned with this account was that as time goes by, some accidents, no matter how tragic, simply fade from general memory. This is one of them, so surprised that a few days ago, someone uploaded this animation depicting the final moments of this avoidable crash
