I’ve tried churches, and have been left wanting. Most seem like a Mandatory Sunday Fun Day w a side of Jesus. As you said, He gave us a brain and His Word. Read it, and it’s all revealed. My son has started going to an Orthodox Church w his grandmother. He loves it, and knows the Bible extremely well. I actually have learned from him on some things. Here’s my hot take: Seminary school is like college. If I want to go to law school, I’m going to find a professor that has experience with the type of law I want to practice. I ain’t gonna learn much about the constitution from a family court lawyer. Let’s expand on that… IF a sinful human, such as myself, is truly “called BY God” to be a pastor…He will give me wisdom and knowledge thru prayer and study. I may not be the most experienced, but as a good Shepard does…I learn by protecting and guiding my herd. WE grow together as the church does. Seminary school is choking and puking doctrine sponsored by whatever brand of church ya are trying to preach to. My good friend is a pastor. He must pay 65$/mo to the Pentecostal Association of Tennessee to be able to speak in front of a Pentecostal congregation, or he looses his right to pastor. Didn’t know they had a direct line to the Lord about cutting off folk’s ability to speak from a book you can get free in a hotel room. Too many people want the easy route. They wanna feel good. They want the concerts every Sunday to get the adrenaline flowing…from music and a light show. NOT, from hearing a powerful message that makes you WANT to dig deeper into the Word. Furthermore, I maintain that a lot (not all, a vast majority) of “pastors” today are too focused on being relatable, cool, hip, looked up to…when in reality I feel most do not have an IQ that’s 3 digits, and lack the ability to question their beliefs and teach others as they grow and change. “I’m the pastor, my word is as good as the Lord’s, and don’t question me”. My BIL will not sit down with my 17yr old son to discuss anything regarding Israel. Nothing. However, Israel has paid for him & his wife to go there (first class tickets) twice in 9 months, and are paying for them to bring more people in November. He’s pastored a church for 12 years, and has never had more than 100 members…more than 500 have come and went. Hmmm… That is a hot topic that divides the best of us, and I’m sick of semantics and differences of opinions taking away the glory and beauty of our salvation thru Christ. I can’t speak for the Lord, however, I don’t think he’d approve of folks ending relationships over genuine curiosity and a yearning for knowledge in a respectful manner to each other. Lotta folks want to think they are the SME on every damn thing on this here app, but won’t have a conversation. There are people I have fundamental disagreements with; but I can respect them & their position…just show me how ya came to that conclusion. Simple. No need for a hurt feelings report. The devil loves chaos. I believe the Lord uses the devil to separate the wheat from the chaff. Like he used certain other people written about in the Bible. We as believers cannot allow bad actors to divide us to conquer us.

I’ve been having this debate w a few folks, and I agree with you on this. The others do not. I maintain that using one’s “pastoral” status or “position” (deacon/elders/etc) in a church for personal gain (intentional or perceived) is using the Lord’s name in vain. That, of course, doesn’t sit well with those people.

They don't take the time to figure out what the commandment actually means. Why would God care if you say His name in conversation? It makes no sense.
