Characters look real, because they are. ❌ 3D modeling ✅ Filming This indie dev: - recorded professional actors - color graded the raw videos - imported them into the engine - sliced them into separate animations 100% Full Motion Video (FMV) I reached out to the dev, and he gave me some behind-the-scenes footage you can see below. Such a smart way to get photorealistic graphics without melting your GPU. Basically a modern version of the trick that was used in the classic Mortal Kombat. I think we'll see this tech in more indie games soon.

@Protox0 Actually I'd wager safe zone recyclers will always be active, those monuments should always have power in my mind. I hope the intent is to make powerplant more central to server events. Like the upcoming satellite stuff.

@Protox0 Yeah right now its just exposing the option. That tells us there will be some reliant on the power grid and some that aren't. Guessing thats because if powerplant isnt on the map we cannot use the grid.

Watching the Peanut #Rust stuff and I think well designed end of wipe server events for vanilla could work well. Events could start slow, maybe days before the end and ramp up into something big in the final day. We already have crashed satellite mentioned, is that an end event?

@jadel4w Only acceptable time this can be true is if that person is avoiding responsibilities for the sake of their entertainment. I think women see that in men most of all, but it's not a gender specific issue, women get caught up and addicted to games too.

@ArtOfPilgrim Raycast from attack point, spawn various low poly blobbies between landed points while attack is being held. Add scale over time with a shader that animates a repeating normal and displacement and you've got something that looks like its morphing and growing a bit.

a lot of people have mentioned Prey as the example - but its sort of not the same thing. It's quite clear in prey its just a small mesh scaling. But what if mechanically, it worked the same as the example in the video? You spray an area and then it grows from that mask?

I'd like to address the drama on @theburntpeanut's server. The Tea economy is completely broken. 18 god damn tea farms on one server? There should be daily online raid defenses in every farm. Blood in blood out type shit. I'm sorry. It's been fun, but somebody had to say it.

@PasanenJenni @Pirat_Nation Most AAA studios already have proc gen tools and huge libraries of that stuff already. It would currently be used for other aspects like tool and software generation or staging concepts inside their house builds. Devs are highly capable of articulating this into real pipelines.
