I had terrific French teachers. 100% fluent — which YOU WOULD THINK would be a bare-minimum requirement, but oh boy, it sure isn't.
But the curriculum was based on Parisian French. Quebec vocabulary was presented as a sort of oddity.

The most frustrating thing about these official bilingualism freakouts is people refusing to accept the dismal state of core FSL education in English Canada. Many of the people who should be most upset about it, demanding change, mostly pretend it's not a problem.

The unanimous vote by city council was a slap in the face to all citizens of Toronto. They are basically saying that you can't disagree with them and if you do, we can say whatever we want to you with impunity.
I'm especially disappointed in @BradMBradford who I had been considering supporting for mayor. I will be re-evaluating that support.

Today at Toronto City Council, a motion to raise Iran’s true flag 🇮🇷 was shut down before it could even be discussed.
Mayor Olivia Chow claimed the federal Liberal government doesn’t recognize the flag and said it’s not within their jurisdiction.
And yet, weeks ago, Conservative representatives in Richmond Hill had no problem raising that same flag. It’s been raised in various GTA locations, but Chow’s Toronto refuses.
