This will be a very special Fenway Friday. To mark the 125th anniversary of the first-ever Red Sox home game, at Huntington Avenue Grounds in 1901, all living Sox alumni with retired numbers will deliver a ceremonial 1st pitch. Confirmed participants: Wade Boggs, Carlton Fisk, Pedro Martínez, David Ortiz, Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski.

Hantavirus is incredibly deadly. One of the only reasons that we don't have an issue with it, is we've never seen any outbreaks manage to evolve human-to-human transmission before. It's always been rodent-to-human contact. If we have H2H in Hantavirus that ship needs to be stranded at sea until every, single, person is cleared. Because that would make the previous pandemic look like childs play.

@foster_type Correct. A Fabian strategy was the South's only real Grand Strategic option with any hope of success. Lee reminds me of Rommel, racing forth to fight, without having any real sense of how he's going to achieve victory, let alone supply and maintain an Army.

Despite his structural disadvantages Lee opted to attempt to invade the Union twice and both attempts failed spectacularly and deprived him of resources and manpower. His strategy should have been more defensive, force the Union to attack fortified positions. Built a fortress. THAT might have worn down the Union's political will, where his brash offensive operations only strengthened it.
Bushwhacker@anglotradboy

You’re assuming that Lee had the luxury of excess manpower and supplies to strategize across multiple theaters. He didn’t. Grant did. And that Lee had that luxury, the strategic situation improved greatly. See Battle of Chickamauga. And I’m not even going to dignify a response to the claim that the union army was overstretched and exhausted

Val Venis was one of the most over midcarders of all time, whether you like him or not. Watch some clips if you didn’t live during the era. He was more over than most main eventers in the last 20 years. I’m getting tired of the revisionist bullshit.

@trueliberal1848 Lee had superior tactical skill but lacked grand strategic mastery. He focused heavily on Virginia at the determint to other departments. Invading the north (twice!) never made military sense. At most, they were raids in force, that wasted man power and achieved little.

@UFCReplays Lyoto was more successful than I remembered in the first round. Fighting at distance, picking his spots, it all looked good. Jones is just massive for 205. The length and size difference turned the tables in round 2.

@WWIIpix Several people falling for the German Supermen propaganda. Outsized Russian losses were a 1941 phenomenon. By 1945, things were roughly even. A 30 to 1 kill ratio in April 1945? Nope.

@WWIIpix I seriously doubt the claim they destroyed 30 Soviet tanks. How would take even happen? Did the Soviet tanks roll up one at a time to fight the Tiger like ninjas in a Kung Fu movie?

This day in 1945, Königstiger's last stand of the war. Tiger II tank nr. 314 commanded by Georg Diers took up positions at the Reichstag, destroying over 30 Soviet tanks. Diers and his crew abandoned the tank after it hit a mine near the Schönhauser Allee. All of them, except the loader, were captured by the Soviets during the breakout attempt. #WW2

My abortion is the kind people love to judge the most. I wasn’t underage, I wasn’t assaulted, and there was no medical emergency. I got pregnant because I knowingly had unprotected sex, no accident, no rare failure, just my own choices. By their standards, it was “irresponsible.” I knew abortion was an option, and I took it. Not because I couldn’t survive it or raise a child, I simply didn’t want one. I wanted sex without becoming a parent, and I chose not to carry the pregnancy. There’s no redemption arc here. I don’t regret it. Nothing terrible happened to me afterward, no punishment, no downfall. My life is still good. And that reality alone challenges everything people like to assume about women who make this choice.

1. Every person with a job should have money in the stock market. We all start somewhere. I had a negative net worth at 32, two kids and was making $45k a year. 2. If you are able bodied and don’t have a job, that’s on you. Stop whining and start working.
