@AlaricTsoni @sapphyreblayze Not NASA but a good case in point is how SpaceX is the only company legally allowed to launch military satellites, seeing as Blue Origin’s New Glenn is a couple years off from getting certified, while ULA’s Vulcan had a hiccup and could be months before they get another launch.

@AlaricTsoni @sapphyreblayze Yeah all the reports with NASA since January 2025 have essentially been done in service to SpaceX. Not even private spaceflight as a whole, seeing as companies like Blue Origin have been smartly silent on this.

People really think that if they cancel all space programmes that money will go towards feeding and housing the homeless and not funding more endless wars.

@ko_oneill @sapphyreblayze I feel like moon landing denialism is different because it’s less partisan than your usual scientific skepticism. Compared to stuff like flat earth being solely believed by anti-science people, moon landing deniers also consist of “they faked it to distract from Vietnam” types.

@sapphyreblayze The issue is conspiracy theorists tend to extrapolate outwards. They doubt the moonlanding, then they doubt the scince that took us there, then they doubt all science, medical science, social science, then they start believing quacks & religious zealots instead.

I know the moon landing conspiracy theories are far from the most harmful, but they piss me off the most because they're just so damn pessimistic. "Y'know that really cool thing humans did? No we didn't actually do that. We suck. Fuck you."

Through the windows of the past, we look to the future. Artemis II soars skyward as seen through the launch mount of Launch Complex 34.

@YourMomDave1 @BanhmiBrieoche By contrast, the other more conservative/right-wing side are the people who believe private companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin can do everything that NASA does.

@YourMomDave1 @BanhmiBrieoche I feel there are two types of Anti-NASA sentiment you can see, divided on partisan lines. The one Brie is talking about is the more liberal/left-leaning type, that think that NASA doesn’t contribute to human welfare outside of climate monitoring and stuff like weather satellites.

Its sad how much disdain people have for science they deem unuseful. Like I've had so many perfectly rational, likeminded, and caring friends say "hope it explodes" Like theres far worse things people could be doing then spacecraft handling checks and lunar observation 😭

They did it before the advent of asymmetric warfare emerged as a viable long term war strategy. The IRGC isn’t going to meet the US Marines for one big battle at the Persian Gate. Also neither Turks or the Romans managed to conquer Persia. And Greece is being double counted by stating both Macedonia and Greece. Not to mention that Macedonia was being led by possibly the Greatest General of all time meanwhile the US has Pete Hegseth.

The SpaceX side of spitter is just toxic at this point. It’s always owning the haters, calling them anti space or retards, and constant gloating They’re actively making the community worse and turning people off from space

@wolfbearpack @SlopHq Yankee Stadium's interesting in that yeah it's not surrounded by a Dodger Stadium-style parking lot, but the neighborhood it's in isn't that similar to your Wrigleyvilles or Fenways.

every baseball stadium built after 1990 is surrounded by forty acres of parking lot that sits empty 280 days a year and we call this "economic development." wrigley is in a neighborhood. fenway is in a neighborhood. the sport was better when the stadiums were to

@SlopHq If anything the trend you should be aware about is the opposite, where MLB teams want to build these giant entertainment districts around their stadium using controversial tactics (like public funding) or controversial amenities (like casinos).

@SlopHq Honestly the trend of MLB stadiums being surrounded parking lots was from 1960 to 1990. Since the opening of the Skydome in Toronto in 1989 and Camden Yards in Baltimore in 1992, the vast majority of MLB teams have opted to build their new ballparks in their cities' downtowns.

@mcbiscit @MoreLimitless I'm not sure if that would make a noteworthy change. Like I know people point to Resident Evil and its recent success as an example, but even then I feel like Village and Requiem get commonly referred to as RE8 and RE9 respectively.

@MoreLimitless This might be a bold take, but it might be time for Final Fantasy to abandoned the numbered titles and focus on rebranding the franchise. Each entry already feels like a new game entirely anyways.

Proud to be part of that 23% that’s not unc status yet. But seriously, I can’t say I’m really surprised here. The company has struggled with this since forever. When people see the name Final Fantasy, they realize how old and long running it is and get scared away to this day.

77% of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth players in the US were aged 30 or over according to data from Circana! • 62% were aged 35 or older via Mat Piscatella
