The hip flexors are a group of muscles primarily including the iliopsoas, rectus femoris, sartorius, and tensor fasciae latae, originating from the lumbar spine and pelvis and inserting onto the proximal femur. Their primary function is to flex the hip joint, allowing movements such as walking, running, kicking, and lifting the knee toward the chest. Pathology commonly includes hip flexor strains, tendinopathy, and tightness, which can contribute to anterior hip pain, reduced mobility, and conditions like iliopsoas syndrome or compensatory lumbar spine dysfunction.

Sources in South Georgia say both Lee County and Worth County still have just 9 games scheduled this fall.
Lee County (AAAAAA) reportedly wants the matchup, but Worth County (AAA) appears set on staying at 9, citing PSR concerns, per sources.

If GHSA's 2026-27 seeding format/PSR had been in place this year, it would've worked to limit top-10 teams from playing each other in the 1st round. It would not have worked to delay 'premature' matchups after that (no better than currrent model). There would've been some dubious seeding (6A champ would've been a #8 seed).
Here's an analysis ...

If your athletes aren’t sleeping enough, they’re paying a metabolic tax.
1 week of 4–6 hrs sleep:
• Glucose tolerance ↓ 30–40%
• Insulin response ↓ ~30%
• Muscle protein synthesis ↓ ~19%
Now it hits performance—
Reduced brain glucose metabolism → weaker neural drive. No fast signal → no fast-twitch recruitment → ↓ RFD & explosiveness.
You can still produce force… just not quickly.
And that’s what limits performance.
William A. Wallace, Ph.D.@drwilliamwallac
Controlled sleep restriction studies consistently show the same pattern: restrict healthy adults to 4-6 hours a night, and within a week, cortisol, glucose tolerance, insulin sensitivity, muscle protein synthesis, appetite hormones, and testosterone all move in the wrong direction. No single marker tells the story. The tax is cumulative.
