@aaronjmate He seems to be a pretty good advocate for getting help to try and save his country. Should he not do so?

@AlboMP why did you reduce our fuel stocks to less than 30 days, when the iea agreement we are a signatory to states you are truly despicable "The 90-Day Mandate: IEA member countries are required to hold emergency oil reserves equivalent to at least 90 days of their net oil imports"

Happy Assyrian New Year! Assyrian Australians have a proud place in our nation and it was wonderful to celebrate their culture, history and community in Fairfield today.

@AlboMP Why didn’t you celebrate Australia Day? Give out grants for national wide celebration? Get photo ops with Aussies celebrating our heritage?

@SandyXiaotong So what? Every extra EV means reduced fuel demand. Saying more EVs would be good doesn't mean every ICE vehicle suddenly needs to disappear.

Australia imports most of it's diesel, gasoline and jet fuel from South Korea and Singapore. So what happens when South Korea and Singapore are not getting enough oil from the Persian Gulf? They stop exports to Australia. Australia used to have 8 refineries 25 years ago. Now there are only 2. Government policies for "climate change" have made it impossible to operate without subsidies. As a result, Australia is entirely unprepared for shortages. Truckers are being stranded in Australia, food deliveries are not happening to grocery stores. The supply chain is breaking down.

@TMFScottP I somewhat agree, but also think a cause is ultimately Australian voters and our media. It would cost $20 billion, and knowing how insane public outcry is about almost all govt spending, it is no wonder no Australian Govt for 15 years addressed this.

With the fuel crisis front and centre, I'm pushing this again. We learned *nothing* from COVID. We should have had redundancy in the system, in the form of stockpiles. We have been badly let down by the last government, and by this one.
Scott Phillips@TMFScottP

This aged well for me... and atrociously for Australia. We learned a lot from COVID... and did nothing with those lessons. Hard to turn on a dime, but we *can* start planning *now* for the next time something like this happens. Just need some policy interest from our pollies.

@shouldveknown11 'Australia' didn't shut down refineries. Oil companies made commercial decisions to do this.

So China has just cut off Australia from jet fuel. Why was Australia getting jet fuel from China? Why did Australia and New Zealand both shut down oil refineries?

@theoztrucker The resale value of EVs is higher than for ICE cars already. And as for batteries, the NRMA forecast even for 4 years from now, is that batteries will cost about 2 years of average fuel costs for an ICE vehicle. I think EV owners will be just fine.

These pricks with EV's are as bad as fucking vegans. Seriously, enjoy your little victory now. Don't whinge to us when the thing has fuck all resale in ten years because of the battery just shut the fuck up!
Chris Meder@EVCurveFuturist

They mocked EV range anxiety… now petrol cars have fuel anxiety. In Oz, 1000+ stations ran dry—not from shortage, but panic.😬⛽️ The real risk? A system that collapses when people get nervous. Electrons don’t queue. They just flow. ⚡🔋#Bettrification carexpert.com.au/car-news/panic…

@Ausbobsmit Not the US/Israel? Not the hoarders? Not the oil companies that offshored their refineries? Not the Australian Govts that were in power the last 25 years whilst stocks declined? Just Albo and Bowen? This is political bias, not a fair assessment.

I'm out of diesel. All the farmers are out of diesel. This is it. We're done for. Albanese and Bowen are directly to blame. This is serious. I promise you. All other countries have diesel, and it averages $1.80 per litre in most countries in the Asia Pacific. But not Australia. Albanese is up to no good. This is crippling.

@RouleurCapital @nicolasfulghum This graph is about Australian energy production, not electricity production. They are different things. So both graphs probably accurate.

Coal used to dominate Australia's 🇦🇺 electricity mix at over 90%. In the last twelve months to February, it fell below 50%. What's driving coal out? Solar, wind, batteries ☀️🍃🔋 2026 might be the year renewables overtake coal for good.
