@ClementDelangue @tbpn @Google Sam Altman owns 9% of Reddit. And Reddit removed most of high-traffic complaints about OpenAI. So we could see how TBPN is going to talk about 🙄🙄🙄

@Hangsiin At the same time, whoever creates some of the best internal coding workflows also will accelerate and arguably be able to out accelerate companies like google who are not as focused on it. The speed up to research efforts will only grow.

Judging Gemini solely by its current state might mean missing the bigger picture. I’ve followed many DeepMind podcasts and interviews, and a common theme is that they aren’t interested in building specialized models for things like coding. Instead, they are fully committed to developing a single general-purpose model. They obviously know the short-term demand for coding models is huge, but unlike other companies, they have the luxury of playing the long game. Realizing this has made me truly admire Demis’s long-term strategy.

In a letter to multiple European ambassadors today, President Trump says that because Norway failed to give him a Nobel Peace Prize, “I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of peace” The letter goes on to demand “complete and total control of Greenland.”

@pmddomingos Reid Hoffmann is probably the most notable counter-example. Also countless of them just stick with the currently ruling party for political influence.

Funny how the people in Silicon Valley who are truly off-the-charts smart (Thiel, Andreessen, etc.) are right-wing, while those who are successful largely by luck (no need to name names) are left-wing.

@GFuterman What do you consider the most important securitization literature especially regarding national dynamics?

2) For a 150 page essay ostensibly on security, it just seems to have the most surface level understanding of security, and no engagement with the securitization literature at all.

This is one of the most dangerous pieces of writing I have read on AI in a long time. I am deeply disappointed seeing how much this is being celebrated in the AI Safety community. I'm thinking of writing at last a partial response in the next few weeks
Leopold Aschenbrenner@leopoldasch

Virtually nobody is pricing in what's coming in AI. I wrote an essay series on the AGI strategic picture: from the trendlines in deep learning and counting the OOMs, to the international situation and The Project. SITUATIONAL AWARENESS: The Decade Ahead
