@shawngorham I was told Industrial forklifts wheels are 2500 a pop and the floor was costing them 10k a month IN WHEELS because the floor was so bad one time. I was asked to demo and replace 80k sqrft. Chased it for 2 years and then it died.

@keyan_concrete That’s all really cool and awesome work. People don’t understand the level of detail it takes to make that happen. The wood plank stamp alone will put a decent finisher in therapy. Keep at it.

I’m proud to present my thesis statement of the last five years of my Concrete journey. Bootstrapping from nothing, with no previous knowledge of the trade. Me and my very small team executed every single thing you see here (besides the wood deck and gazebo)

@JaredDHardin If you have a 2500 pick up truck and put a 7-10k used plow on it and go work for a guy you will make a couple of bucks. See if it’s something you want to get into before committing to a parking lot or 2. It’s really damanding on your time and equipment imo

Anyone doing commercial snow removal? I've had a lot of people ask me to do this, and I currently don't, but I'm thinking about it.. I've just heard it's a massive pain to fulfill given the variability and the fact that everyone needs the snow removed at the same time.

Casey McDaniel - Pest Control Guy
A guy that owns a large construction company back home recently lost a bid to redo a bridge close to his home. He found out he lost because his gravel supplier quoted his competitor less for the rock. He’s spending $2 million this year to buy more land, start his own concrete batch plant and own his own rock. Said he’s ever going to lose another government bid again. With this in the plans he bid a huge concrete job in the area and landed an 8 figure contract. Some guys complain, some guys just get back out there and start winning.

@hoytcrouch NetSuite. In house controller, staff accountant and payroll specialist. And hired a consultant. A lot of work. I think we all fell broke because we don’t know our numbers like we should.Demand is high. It’s hard to be the only one who knows your numbers. Also hard to be broke

My fence company's accounting/booking keeping is becoming rapidly more complicated. Specifically making the switch from cash to accrual, AR/AP tracking & job costing. Anyone have a recommendation for a firm? Construction specialty preferred but open to suggestions.

My son graduated a year early from high school and had no desire to go to "college" but he is taking a welding course here locally and is doing pretty well. He's talking about building out his own service truck to do mobile welding and repairs. He can already run almost every piece of equipment I own and next summer I plan on hiring a sealcoat crew for him to manage. I let him run some jobs last year and he did a really good job, was very good at explaining to the helper we had how to do things. Praying the Lord sends him a good wife in the next few years.

@jamesonhaslam @S___Elliott Really shouldn't do a bandaid patch job on parking area. Thickness of patch material will vary from feathered out to an inch or two...will be a cracked up mess in no time.

Question for my construction/real estate homies. I have to restore this parking lot. Can I just seal the cracks and go over it with a layer of concrete, or do I have to rip it out and install new concrete.

I’m always happy to accommodate customers’ requests and deliver an awesome service. But when I get messages like this I sometimes think it’s better to just let someone else handle it What are the thoughts here, is this message an early 🚩 indicator?
