@ESPNRefNHL @KevinMcCurdy I might be wrong but I thought in this case, he could still establish control of the puck even after both player and puck enter the zone. Or does both possession and control need to be established here before entering the zone?

@Nick9443 @KevinMcCurdy The issue being debated is the need to have possession and control. He had possession but they deemed he did not have control until his feet were already inside the zone

All of this possession/control bullshit started with the 2022 Makar goal and it's been a shitshow ever since. It would not be that hard to true the rule back up to its original intent, which we're now about 7 miles offshore and adrift from. I probably couldn't tell you if this was offside or not during the play, and we've shifted to requiring 10 minutes of video review to figure it out. Entering the zone backwards with the puck should be offside. Puck, then player. Teammates need to have something touching the NZ side of the line to be considered onside. I really don't feel it needs to be this difficult.

This however is a legitimate call. I can see the confusion but this is up in face area, it’s the only reason this was a penalty

@Nick9443 Respectfully, this one isn’t close, and one of the most egregious we’ve seen in years. If it’s to the head or resulted in an injury this is a multi game suspension
