For example, that right now you’re spinning faster than the speed of sound in a vacuum inside a 27 billion year old explosion. Nothing you’ve ever experienced matches the mainstream belief of where you currently are. Right now you can balance a quarter on its side. Right now you can fall asleep on a windless day in a hammock with hummingbirds flying around a tree nearby. You can see the same pattern in seashells, flower petals, and sound on sand. You can hold your baby in your arms and see their little perfect eyes open for the first time. But simultaneously you believe you are spinning faster than sound on a ball in vacuum in chaos from an explosion looming at stars that are dead. This cause a mistrust with self, a break in coherence, and a soft permanent cognitive dissonance that exhausts you and leaves with a subtle nihilism that makes it easier to convince you to do terrible things. And once you see it you can’t believe you ever believed it. And people will scream at you and call you names and say because you aren’t inside a lie that means you are worthless and should never be listened to or loved. In reality, that is the shame they feel about the child inside them that was shamed into distrusting their own perfect eyes and hands. And to externalize truth and power to “authority” and away from their own heart. These people grow up to point their little finger and say “you are not an expert shut your mouth.” You’re right I’m not. I don’t get into unpayable debt so I can have a title that allows me to slowly pay off that debt that I can only keep if I regurgitate and arbitrary consensus. I’m absolutely not an expert. I'm going to explain this one time in a gesture of good faith. Your travel to other countries has no bearing on whether Americans do or do not know things about the world outside of America. There has been consistent surveying of the public since the 80s that people are more likely to know the names of every member of the Simpson's family than to know who is Vice President at any given time. A significant portion of our country doesn't even know their own phone number. Every single time the question comes up of "Can Americans point to [X] on a map?" the answer is a resounding "No, most of them cannot." Just a week ago there was one in a long and vibrant history of street conversation videos that demonstrate time and time and time and time again that the normal population has absolutely no idea what is going on politically, let alone internationally. That is fine. If you interpret this as an insult that's your problem and your own insecurity. This is just a fact. We live in a giant near-autarkic empire with no real need or desire for a normal person to pay attention outside of it. I don't care that most people don't know this stuff. Its completely normal and healthy to not give a damn what is happening to some random island on the other side of the world. I'm not so patriotic that I'm going to delude myself into believing the American public is exceptional that it is in fact full of suppressed geniuses. Our population is more intelligent than most populations in the world, but being the smartest kid in the Special Ed classroom isn't much of an accomplishment on its own. The average human is an idiot and approximately half the population is dumber than that idiot. I know what America is like for many reasons, but probably the biggest that gives me an advantage whenever talking about exposure outside of someone's bubble is that I've done jury selection more than a dozen times. This means I get to question and talk with a completely randomly selected pool of people out of my community, specifically to filter in large part that they aren't a complete retard. That means I'm the one trying to educate and filter a jury for a fair trial. My only criterion was that someone was intelligent enough to follow along, pay attention, and make logical inferences. I couldn't even filter for this completely because we wouldn't have enough jurors. I have, separately, been spending the past month teaching thousands of Americans over and over the most basic things about the country of Iran, a country far more known to the American public than Taiwan. Hardly anyone knows a damn thing about it. I know what the public is like and I talk about the American public the same way I talk about everything else—with extreme candor. If you think anything I do is "for clicks," go ahead and hit that unfollow button, because I will never be more overtly genuine with people than I have consistently been in my relative five minutes of using this app. You won't get anything more genuine than this.
