I just got off the phone with some folks in Tehran. They told me, "You have no idea how much we danced and celebrated last night. The streets were packed with people, jumping up and down in jubilation until dawn." They said "Don't worry about us. We are fine. Americans and Israelis are careful, surgical with their targets." This is how hope takes root. Not in silence, not in fear, but with defiance in streets that refuse to stay quiet. #ThankYouTrump

@lukejcr Except it won't. The fox population is managed to meet the needs of the hunt. Once banned gamekeepers will wipe out the foxes. Learn about the way the counteyside is managed.

Boxing Day hunts using “trail scents” can sadly be used as a smokescreen for fox hunting. Such CRUELTY has no place in the British countryside. It’s telling how many right-wing NPC politicians rush to defend it. Labour will BAN trail hunting for good to PROTECT wildlife. 🇬🇧🐾

Let’s be clear: doctors striking aren’t abandoning patients. They are fighting for safer care and fair conditions. Flu is up, but hospitals are ready, senior consultants are covering, and there’s no reason to panic. Patient safety comes first, despite political fear-mongering.
Farrukh@implausibleblog

Chair of the BMA Resident Doctors, Dr Jack Fletcher Accuses Wes Streeting of fear-mongering over flu Because while cases in hospital are high, we're nowhere near the levels of previous years And that's all you need to know about Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting, they're more interested in over inflating safety concerns and less interested in in patient safety, which is what the doctors are calling for

@Grippan65Momi @JimFergusonUK Ok, if you consider giving Putin everything he wants diplomacy then you're deluded. All Trump offered was surrender. The US is not bankrollin the war, Europe are buying weapons from America and supplying them to Ukraine and making American weapon companies rich

That arrangement was never moral — it was just convenient. If Europe truly believes in this war: 👉 Let Europe fund it 👉 Let Europe arm it 👉 Let Europe secure it End the fantasy where: ✔️ Europe postures ✔️ America bankrolls ✔️ Ukraine bleeds You rejected diplomacy in London. You mocked compromise in Washington. Now the responsibility shifts. You don’t get to torch peace — and still invoice America. History won’t remember the bravado. It will remember who refused to stop the fire when the exit was open. #PeaceWasOffered #EuropeOwnsItNow #EndTheForeverWar #Accountability #Geopolitics 🔥🌍

🚨ZELENSKY JUST TORCHED THE PEACE EFFORT — NOW EUROPE OWNS THE WAR Ben Harnwell has put words to what millions sensed but few dared say: Zelensky didn’t just reject Trump’s peace offer — he publicly humiliated him, twice, in two capitals, and deliberately. London. Washington. Back-to-back political theatre. Months of Trump-led back-channel diplomacy… A 28-point peace framework… Hours of negotiation with Putin and Kyiv… Thrown aside so Zelensky can drag America back into a war he cannot win without U.S. blood and U.S. treasure. Europe cheers this bravado because Europe doesn’t pay the price. They strut around with what Harnwell called “gangster swagger” — and why wouldn’t they? America still underwrites NATO. America still guarantees Europe’s security. America still absorbs the cost. So they talk tough while America carries the risk. Here is the turning point: “If Europe wants this fight — Europe can fight it. America is out.” And Harnwell is right. Trump has spent nearly a year pushing against the machinery of endless war. Zelensky just spat in his face politically. Now the logic is simple: If Europe wants a forever war, Europe can fund it. If Europe wants escalation, Europe can own the consequences. If Europe believes there’s victory ahead — Europe can walk into it without America. America gave them an offramp. They chose the battlefield. Now they can stay on it.

Optimus is Tesla's humanoid robot project, a general-purpose bipedal robot designed to perform a wide range of repetitive, dangerous, or tedious tasks for humans. - Self-Replication: Optimus is engineered to handle end-to-end manufacturing, from mining raw materials to assembling components in factories. Musk envisions fleets of Optimus bots building more Optimus bots autonomously, creating a self-sustaining production loop with minimal human input. This mirrors a Von Neumann probe's replication cycle: arrive at a resource-rich site (e.g., an asteroid), extract materials, fabricate replicas, and propagate outward. - Space Exploration: Optimus could deploy to off-world environments like Mars or the Moon. Early units might construct habitats or Starship launch infrastructure; advanced versions could mine regolith for metals, 3D-print solar panels, and replicate themselves to scale operations exponentially. Musk has described this as "the machine that builds the machine," enabling Kardashev-scale projects (harnessing entire planetary systems) without constant Earth resupply. - AI-Driven Autonomy: Powered by Tesla's Dojo supercomputer and real-world AI training (from billions of miles of FSD data), Optimus learns tasks via observation and simulation. Over time, this could evolve into full autonomy for decision-making in harsh, unpredictable space conditions—key for a probe to adapt, repair, and innovate without human oversight.

The most revealing part of the UK doctor crisis isn’t the pay. It’s that the UK takes 8–11 years to do what other universal systems do in 5–6; not because the medicine is harder, but because trainees are used to fill service gaps. A system designed like that will always bleed talent. 👇
Ari Reddy MD@AriReddy

1️⃣ Most people don’t realize how unusual the UK’s doctor-training model is until they compare it internationally. France, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands — all move doctors to independent practice years faster. The UK isn’t the norm. It’s the outlier.

Dr Brown spoke with the BBC at our picket. She wants to become an A&E Consultant. However, last year 14 doctors applied per A&E training place and she was unsuccessful. It is a disgrace that patients are waiting hours in A&E, when doctors like Poppy are locked out of training.

I'm actually embarrassed to work in the NHS. No dignity for patients, people die before coming to hospital, unemployed doctors, doctor rota gaps filled by anyone who's not a doctor, almost every hospital in the UK can't hit cancer targets yet CEOs are on £150k+ increasing every year. ED attendances are at record highs, outpatient appointments have more than doubled in 20 years. Yet when a patient is cancelled for an operation, I'm the one who has to apologise. When clinic overruns because managers are booking 3x more patients for a 10 minute slot, I'm the one who has to apologise. When a patient is managed incorrectly by a non-doctor, I'm the one who has to apologise. It's no wonder resident doctors are striking for pay to be restored to what it used to be, and to just have a job to become a consultant.

If your boiler broke, you’d pay the plumber emergency call out fee. If you have a brain bleed overnight + require emergency surgery you need a surgeon. Doctors aren’t asking for a pay rise, they’re asking for restoration and they deserve to be paid according to their skills.

If the next election is Greens vs Reform, then at least that's a real choice: Under Reform, we can be a (more) cruel, bitter, insular country that makes workers poorer — or, under the Greens, a kind, open, outward-looking country where billionaires finally pay their fair share.

French roads are amongst the best in the world - I've never once experienced a pothole, even on B roads. But this week the French unveiled their first "Charge as you drive" highway, which keeps your EV at 100% charge while you're driving over it's tracks. It works very much like a charging pad for your mobile phone, using magnets to keep your EV battery topped-up. Would this work in Britain? Or would they just get vandalised or suffer from lack of maintenance? Will they quell your range anxiety, and persuade you to drive electric?

Train drivers and staff are heroes. The driver had to call signal control to report that he was coming off the fast track and pulling up at Huntingdon. They then had to clear the track and direct him to a safe platform. Next time they ask for fair pay, remember this.
