@anon_opin My grandad got drunk wetting the babies head, went to register the birth, couldn’t remember the chosen name so used the registrars name - Shirley… and it wasn’t til my nan was contacted for “Shirley’s” jabs she realised she wasn’t named Carol !

Registrars should have the power to override daft names for babies and instead put something sensible on the birth certificate.

@anon_opin In most towns and villages, the church is the oldest surviving building. They should be preserved like other ancient monuments. Looked after and open to the public at weekends.

I seriously wonder how churches plan to survive the next 20 years. Virtually every regular these days is above retirement age. How do they plan to stay open once the current crowd dies off?

@anon_opin Maths is knowledge and skill. Excel is an example of a spreadsheet product.

Excel should be taught in schools. If we have time in the school day to teach a bunch of maths formulas that 99% of the population is never going to use in real life, we have time to teach a skill that is required for a great deal of jobs.

@OlsterB @anon_opin Our computer room was a work in progress i.e. not ready. We had a year of listening to a Welsh teacher's anecdotes. Quite interesting and he got quite worked up about the poisonous punch incident at university.

I've worked at 11 companies over 35 years. 6 have had people whose job is to bring tea and snacks to our desks. Those were the companies that really cared about people and also made the most money. Funny that, looking after staff pays off.

When one of your parents die, the grief is bad enough but this is compounded by how awful our probate & power of attorney processed are. It's like, we know this is bad for you but we're now going to pile on the pressure, confusion and bureaucracy to see if you can take it.
