@MerrynSW It’s the quality of the candidates that makes the general population feel there is no point in voting. If they’re a literate candidate the media keeps them hidden

We've had a few more election leaflets. But never known Scotland be so apathetic over an election. General assumption that it's all pointless. Record low turnout in the way. Terrible.

👀 Gone to Specsavers in Dundee with @HeatherSNP and @StephenGethins. Scotland is the only part of the UK with free eye tests and the SNP will protect them. We will also invest in more treatment in the community and give people faster, easier access to the care they need.

We have 2 converted farm buildings on our farmyard that we let out to holidaymakers. We never hit the Welsh government’s recent target of letting them out for over 182 days a year (even though they’re available all year) because we’re inland, not in the coast. They’ve just sent us a backdated premium (additional 50%) council tax bill for the last three years. It’s over £26,000. I am seriously concerned for my husband’s mental health. We can’t pay that. We can’t sell them as they’re not suitable for permanent accommodation. We can’t rent them out as they’re not classed as permanent accommodation. What the actual fuck are we meant to do here?!!

You go to work for 40 years (I'm currently at 42). You’re forced into auto‑enrolment. You play by the rules, you save into a pension on the promise it’s yours. Then Labour strolls in, waves through a law that lets ministers tell your scheme where to gamble those savings – not for your benefit, but to prop up their economic “strategy” and vanity infrastructure schemes that the market won’t fund. This isn’t prudence. It isn’t “modernisation”. It is a straightforward transfer of control from the saver to the state. Hands off our pensions. Share this before they pretend nobody noticed.

The SNP administration is now spending £4,721 more per person than it raises. After 19 years, the SNP haven’t built a country… they’ve bankrupted one.

@LisaPattullo @aliciakearns @DrFionaCares @wesstreeting I think you’ll find, that as a Consultant Anaesthetist of many yrs seniority, I know a damn sight more about this subject than you. My colleagues & I worked our balls off in the early 2000s to get the waiting lists right down, only to watch it all go to shit from 2010ish onwards.

NEWS: Labour to ration NHS referrals Labour’s plans to ration NHS referrals are deeply concerning and will affect us all. Instead of being referred directly to a specialist when your GP thinks it’s needed, now your doctor will have to email a specialist and you have to wait for them to email back their view. Once your GP gets the email back, they either need to call you in for another appointment, or provide that specialist's assessment to you by letter. Then you will need to wait and see whether that advice (given without seeing you in person) works for a period of time, before then going back to your GP again, and asking again to be referred to a specialist if you are still suffering with the health issue. The result? Longer waiting times for specialist care, while specialists spend more time writing emails than actually seeing patients and using their expertise. On paper, waiting lists will therefore look significantly shorter, but only because fewer people ever make it onto them. You are not on a waiting list while the GP is waiting for the specialist to send their advice (without seeing you). You are only on a waiting list when, and if, you then request later to be seen by the Specialist, once you've gone through all of the process above. So all of this means the Government can announce they've cut waiting lists massively, but what is actually means is longer waiting times for specialist care for all of us as patients, and specialists spend their time writing emails not seeing patients.

@aliciakearns @DrFionaCares While I agree this is a cynical approach by @wesstreeting to manipulate the waiting lists, let’s not forget which party allowed the NHS waiting lists to get completely out of control in the first place…

Glorious St Andrews. I know I’m biased because it’s my hometown, but it’s one of the best towns in Britain. Beautiful architecture. Historical. Independent shops everywhere and the home of golf! ⛳️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@steptoe59464827 @CF_Farrow @Tesco It’s good advice for those that CAN but, not everyone can. Think of how many convenience stores have been taken over by the supermarkets. Especially Tesco metro. Not everyone has a car. Butchers sadly aren’t everywhere anymore. It is certainly more expensive….

@CharlesTerf @Tesco Really annoyed/upset. Lamb is the one meat that all the family eats. Daughter home from uni was really looking forward to it. Digging out these as a substitute but there's only 2 left, so everyone else will have steaks with their sides! 😱

Lake District congestion charge scheme confirmed. A new congestion charge will be introduced in parts of the Lake District to tackle traffic, parking pressures, and environmental damage during busy periods. ANPR cameras will be installed at key access points, including Kirkstone Pass, to monitor vehicles and enforce the scheme without physical barriers. Drivers will be charged £10 per vehicle, rising to £15 on bank holidays, when entering designated high-traffic areas. Local residents will be exempt with proof of address linked to their vehicle. A spokesperson involved in the project, Mike Wheeler said the aim was to “encourage more sustainable travel choices while protecting some of Cumbria’s most fragile landscapes.” However, some locals were not happy. Miles Graham protested that the charge would hit his business and local restauranteur Richard Carter said that his livelihood would also take a hit with less visitors to the area.
