Having been burned several times by promising men who turned out to object to my politics, I am now issuing a warning to dates.

Does any American university have a more skewed gender breakdown than Howard? This is stunning.

@NickWolfinger The breach occurred prior to his appointment, so yes. There's no evidence of a new hack, they've just slapped their logo over stuff that's been flying around for ages.

The cool thing about America is it's not Twitter. On Twitter, you get paranoid yobs fearful of "white genocide" or "replacement." In America, only 10% of adults think having many different races is bad. 🇺🇸 Race-fixated thinking is dumb, whether from the left or the right.

@2sailbeyondsun @BoydsArchitect @conor64 I never lost full faith, perhaps because I expected mistakes from the outset, but agree that was a big screwup. I suspect it resulted from dueling expectations: was CDC a think thank or a crises support agency?

A question for everyone: survey data suggests that by the end of the Covid-19 emergency trust in public health institutions had decreased significantly. If you are among the people who reacted that way, why specifically? I'm hoping for long, diverse, individualized answers.

I've got brand new data about American religion that was collected in October of 2025. And, folks... The share of Americans who are non-religious has dropped for the third year in a row. Atheists and agnostics are down to 5% each. Those are 2014 levels.

@PauleGolf @drantbradley Let me jump in on one narrow point: the utility of non-STEM degrees. Do I think these majors now produce more grads than the labor market can now absorb? I do, but will attest to the utility of some degrees. I'm a social scientist; I teach statistics. It's useful.

@drantbradley @NickWolfinger Also, if you were educated you would know about the false equivalency fallacy in your argument. Not sure how you are effectively defending a college education comparing a blue collar job to drug dealing. You’re discarding the positive externalities of blue collar workers…

@CathyReisenwitz @WendyRWang Definitely stigma for single mothers in the old days; per my most recent monograph, still poverty for single moms. But this question is just about unmarried women, not moms. They marry less than they did say, 30, years ago. Why?

We asked young men who are unsure about marriage why they hesitate. The top reason, again, is: "it is hard to find the right person to marry." This theme shows up across young adults, men and women. And it's the same story with family formation: the #1 reason Americans are not having the number of children they desire is "Still looking for the right spouse/partner to have children with." Why is it so hard to find the right person to marry and have children with? I covered this in more detail in this essay and offered ideas for change @FamStudies: ifstudies.org/blog/why-ameri…

@realStevenWalk Eh, I'm not convinced he's antisemitic the way, say, Ilhan Omar & Rashida Taleb are. Or has new evidence emerged aside from the tattoo?
