Recording local heritage and wildlife is important. If we don’t know what we have now, we can’t know what we are losing.

@diana4hereford Met tourists from Wales visiting #Herefordshire & they couldn't believe the wonderful country walks so close to the city. It is visitors like that who keep our hospitality & high streets in business, much more than new roads increasing council tax for everyone

From our city we can walk from an amazing cathedral, along an iconic river, past kingfishers, herons and ancient trees to a scheduled ancient monument with a famous spring, beautiful orchard and adorable church. How idiotic we would be to ruin this walk for us and for tourists!

@HfdsCouncil claim a high level dual carriageway over the River #Wye here will be "designed to work with Herefordshire’s beautiful landscape with mitigation built in from the start." No explanation how, as it can't be done! Once lost this landscape of the Wye walk is gone.

@HfdsCouncil Maybe you do need a second crossing, but choosing the remote hamlet of Warham for it, currently accessed only by rural single track lanes, is foolish. There cannot possibly be a viable economic business case for doing this

A road bridge over the River Wye just west of Hereford would destroy ancient woodland and the habitats of many unusual wild flowers and other wildlife. It's currently quiet, dark, remote and beautiful, but would become noisy, lit-up and with continual vibrations of traffic

On the left is old woodland full of bluebells & wild daffodils, undisturbed for centuries. The traffic modelling shows all of this is to be destroyed & every 🚗 journey won't be just 6 mins quicker but will actually be 4 minutes longer!

Can you imagine the local disruption from building a high level bridge over the River Wye in rural Warham, near Hereford? The access needed for construction machinery, cranes, cement trucks etc. before you can even build a bridge? Nature there doesn't stand a chance of surviving

@HfdsCouncil Why is the canopy so high? That won't protect anyone from wind and rain. And it's a relatively long way from the station entrance for disabled people, with no weather protection on the way: it's not practical. And it does not complement the outstanding architecture of the station

A grotesque dinosaur from the 80s, @HfdsCouncil decided they wanted this road then spent years trying 2 retrofit the facts & evidence: no business case, no full funding, shafting local businesses & rinsing local tax payers 4 years. @EllieChowns rightly opposes it. @Jesse_Norman ?

Look what Covid's doing to us all without us realising. There have been thousands of peer-reviewed research papers now, in e.g. British Medical Journal, The Lancet, Nature that prove how bad Covid can be, but it seems the authorities don't want to worry us. @1goodtern @Heccles94

The hypocrisy is staggering! Government has spent the last 2 years blaming our wildlife (bats 🦇, newts 🦎, spiders 🕷, lapwings 🐦‍⬛, owls🦉, dormice 🐀, snails 🐌 amongst others) for a slow economy and failure to build affordable housing.

This is gesture politics just before the local elections. It’s a tokenistic sticking plaster on all the horrific over-development due to the Government’s growth and deregulation agenda aka build, baby, build.

I want to wish all my friends around the world who are celebrating Easter a glorious weekend. For Christians, Easter is a time to reflect on the gift of Christ and his teachings to our world. For example, when asked which was the most important of the commandments, Jesus pointed to two: 1. Love God 2. Love thy neighbour as thyself Anyone who publicly expresses their love for God while failing to demonstrate their love for their neighbours is choosing to ignore what Christ taught them. Anyone who demonstrates daily contempt for their neighbours will have to justify that to God when the time comes; I wouldn't want to be in their shoes when it does.

Kicking can down the road, 3 YEARS of delay Wye catchment can’t afford. The problems have been identified for years; we know the solutions. Stop poisoning our rivers with animal manure & sewage. Bring in WPZ now to give strong regulation & real protection uwe.ac.uk/news/river-wye
