A vigil organised by the NUJ is being held on O’Connell Street in Dublin to remember journalists who have been killed in Gaza.

Palestinian journalist Abdelrahman Alkahlout posted a video on his social media highlighting the importance of Nasser Hospital for journalists working in Khan Younis. “Since the beginning of the war, I have relied on this spot at Nasser Medical Complex as the only window to access the internet,” Alkahlout said. “Today, this place was deliberately targeted an attempt to silence our voices and stop us from documenting what is happening in Gaza,” he added. Nasser Medical Complex was targeted by an Israeli strike on Monday, killing Middle East Eye journalist Mohammad Salama along with 13 others.

This fire has just been extinguished in the past 10 minutes, but it appears as though the bridge (which carries the Luas red line past Connolly to 3Arena) has been severely damaged, its metal frame warped. jrnl.ie/6794159

Irish journalists showed up today in solidarity with our colleagues in Gaza - speaking out against Israel's targeted killing of our colleagues as a united front.

Even without a clear view of the horizon in Dublin city centre the northern sky is still shining so brightly silver with these noctilucent clouds (you might even say it is night shining, or maybe even noctilucent)

I promise I will start tweeting more news again and not just space weather etc but rare noctilucent clouds (night-shining clouds) are visible over Dublin and likely across Ireland right now.
