@aikisteve @iz4afw @Tesla @RDWnl @KRoelandschap @Tesla_AI @TeslaOwnersNL I wonder how tied Tesla's hands are going to be. By default we think the RDW is going to be super strict, like "version allowed == version tested". But there is a chance Tesla defended their case, maybe they can justify updates with proofs of no regressions. We'll see in time

@die_wende_ @RDWnl There's zero new info: they basically parroted everything that Tesla said... which is good! Because this time, they did not "rectify" Tesla's announcement by calling it "premature" or "overenthusiastic". They just... confirmed everything, with zero "AKSHUALLY ☝️ 🤓"

@iz4afw @Scrin_Mais There is a meeting approximately every month or two. If I'm not mistaken, those meetings are planned in advance. I think they have a big spreadsheet with all meetings for the year. Soooo... it could happen during any of those meetings...

Great to hear this official update. 10. April is now the expected approval date in in the Netherlands, like some rumors already said. 📆 If approved, it could be part of the agenda of the meeting of the Technical Commitee on Motor Vehicles (TCMV) on 5. May. If approved there, FSD Supervised would be legal in the whole European Union, covering most parts of Europe. 🤞🇪🇺
Tesla Europe, Middle East & Africa@teslaeurope

Together with RDW, we have officially completed the final vehicle testing phase for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and have submitted all documentation required for the UN R-171 approval + Article 39 exemptions. The RDW team is now reviewing the documentation and test results package internally. They have communicated the expected approval for Netherlands date of 4/10, shifting from 3/20 previously and we look forward to successful completion of this cooperation.  Following the Netherlands’ approval, European countries will be able to recognize this approval nationally. We are anticipating a possible EU-wide approval during the summer. Over the past 18 months, this approval has involved a series of intense documentation, development, testing, research & audits. Including but certainly not limited to: – 1,600,000+ km of FSD (Supervised) testing on EU roads – 13,000+ customer sales ride-alongs – 4,500+ track test scenario executions – Thousands of pages of written documentation for 400+ compliance requirements – Dozens of research studies into safety performance/results We're extremely proud of the work conducted with the RDW team up until this point. We very much look forward to the approval in April, and sharing FSD (Supervised) with our patient EU customers!

@die_wende_ @teslaeurope If we take Australia as a precedent: Tesla will act as if HW3 never existed. Also known as turbo ostrich policy. It is very bad.

@teslaeurope Will the approval be HW4 specific or will it include HW3? If not, what will you do with those owners who purchased the FSD package years ago?

@FSD_Europilot They also said "European countries will be able to recognize this approval nationally". I hope the countries who allowed the ride-along are going to do that!

EU wide approval during the summer would be such great news! I was honestly expecting things to take longer but damn so sweet being wrong 😂 Let’s see how approval unfolds for other European countries like Switzerland, UK, Norway

@JanMHoffmann @Rustavi I wholeheartedly agree. Sadly, only the RDW and/or Tesla knows what is happening and why. Sometimes, it feels like the regulators are in a power trip, requiring random useless tweaks to prove they're useful. I'm convinced a different reviewer would have required different tweaks

But if they’re satisfied, what’s the point? The system is supposed to be updated frequently anyway, and minor issues can be addressed over time. I don’t get it. This makes it seem like we won’t get frequent updates once it’s approved since every change has to be reviewed again. And the system will probably be set up to behave extremely cautiously, with zero speed limit violations and stuff like that. Phew. This doesn’t feel very promising.

🚨 Possible bad news for #FSD in the Netherlands. Rumors are circulating that the possible RDW approval date has shifted from March 20 to April 10. Sources (incl. someone who spoke to a Tesla NL manager) say tests are going very well and RDW is satisfied overall, but they provided Tesla with a list of improvement points, and gave until April 10 to address them. Others heard directly from RDW that March 20 isn’t feasible. Important; This is NOT official yet. Let’s wait and see what happens on March 20 first. But we should prepare for the possibility of a few more weeks delay. Also, FSD ride-alongs in other countries have been extended to April 30, likely connected to this timeline. Fingers crossed for good news soon. 🤞🇳🇱🇪🇺🧿 #Tesla #FSD #TeslaEurope #RDW

@Nicnl @JanMHoffmann We don’t know. 🤷‍♂️ but the guy has been told that RDW was satisfied with the testing, with minor issues they wanted to change. What the issues are we don’t know.

@JanMHoffmann @Rustavi Exactly. Also... what are those changes requested by the RDW? Are they trivial UI tweaks, or actual behavior changes? Because the latter would require Tesla to filter specific training data and train the AI again. Impossible to do in 20 days, as it would take months.

This is insane. It probably means that Tesla has to address a list of “issues,” like FSD going 1 km/h too fast. Then the whole process starts over. The changes need to be reviewed again, and then another list probably appears. How is this supposed to work in the future if Tesla wants to keep updating the system continuously like it has in the past? It’s insane. European bureaucracy is just unbelievable. I cannot get over it.

@destroyingpics @AIDRIVR @Tesla_AI I'm always surprised by americans: some treat speed limit as a suggestion. They're unhappy when it goes 40 miles in a 25 miles zone... but for some 30/35 is fine. It's beyond my comprehension. Here in the EU, the speed limit is very strict. My FSD demo didn't exceed the limit 👌

@iz4afw @EstherRebers @Tesla @teslaeurope True, although providing demos is compatible with a release : There are a lot of sceptics to convince + new customers to acquire. Also there is another way to view it: Are they extending their current ride-along testing permits... or do they know they won't need them anymore? 👀

@lotharlindinger Yep. My father, who has a highland with FSD got the 2026.2.9.1 last week, he didn't get the 2026.8. Meanwhile, my own highland without FSD never had 2026.2.9 : I jumped straight from 2026.2.6 to 2026.8. Seems like FSD owners are on a dedicated software branch.
