Trump has said his speech on January 6, 2021, was protected by the First Amendment and that, as President, he enjoyed immunity from prosecution. MY TAKE: As I have noted, every American President has enjoyed presidential immunity for their actions in office. This has included presidents who went to wars based on a lie, a lie that left thousands of American soldiers dead and hundreds of thousands of civilians massacred. It's therefore not unreasonable to conclude that Trump is being prosecuted because he is running for President and is leading in the polls.
