Interestingly, @SECGov listed about a dozen tokens in the actual lawsuit against @coinbase (SOL, Polygon, Cardano...), rather than mention the 100+ tokens traded on its platform.

Taking this backdrop into account alongside what Armstrong has said recently, it does look like it adds more credibility to arguments that the SEC is perhaps looking to carve out jurisdiction in very, very broadstrokes.

The wildcard, in my personal view, is the fact we have a new bill working its way through Congress that sets out definitions for digital assets on top of specifications for when one counts as a commodity vs a security.

@coinbase's Brian Armstrong saying the @SECGov wanted COIN to delist every token, but BTC reminds me of what legal experts have been telling me for weeks in the context of the #Ripple case: Win or lose, that outcome was not going to chasten the SEC for long.

Gensler was asked today in a webinar about Coinbase being at center of ETF filings. He couldn't comment on the filings but went pretty negative on crypto exchanges saying they operate "conflicting services" and have "limited risk monitoring" Here's full quote via @TheBlock__

UPDATE: There they are -- SEC just acknowledged the #Bitcoin ETF applications for @BlackRock, @vaneck_us, @InvescoUS/@GalaxyDigital, @Fidelity, & @WisdomTreeFunds. We're off to the races. Keep in mind @ARKInvest/@21Shares already beyond this point. @bitwise was yesterday.

UPDATE: @bitwise had it's Spot #Bitcoin application acknowledged by the SEC just now. This essentially starts the clock for them. Will be interesting to see if others are acknowledged today or if SEC waits until tomorrow.
