Hell, I would love a report. I don’t have a damn thing to hide.
But while some folks were obsessing over a report most Americans will never read or care about, Black voters in the South were staring down the possibility of losing voting power for generations.
This may not be a priority for some people. But as a Black man from the South, this is about my existence. It’s about the environment in which I’m raising my sons. It’s about whether my children grow up in a state and a country that sees them as equal citizens whose voices matter.
This is personal to me.
This is about survival.
We are months away from what I believe are the most important midterms of my lifetime. The Democratic Party cannot afford distractions, vanity projects, or circular firing squads while the fundamental rights and representation of Black Americans are under attack.
History is watching all of us. Release the damn thing after the midterms but before the presidential elections, but in this moment we must FOCUS!

The reason to release the DNC audit is to learn from the mistakes of the past so we don’t make them again and suffer another catastrophic defeat like 2024. Winning is how we protect voting rights.

There are two windows to release a report like this without it becoming a distraction: 2025 or after the 2026 midterms.
And let’s be honest, a lot of people are making huge assumptions that they are about to learn something earth shattering.
But what really struck me was this: y’all spent two straight days talking about and promoting your interview with Ken, while posting virtually nothing about the Callais decision on the very day the crown jewel of the Civil Rights Movement was gutted and Jim Crow 2.0 was effectively reborn.
Think about that.
You weren’t the only ones but that silence spoke volumes to a lot of us.
And beyond that, the interview and the fallout from it created a massive distraction that continues to drain time and resources from the DNC: communications staff managing chaos and other stories, fundraising teams dealing with donor anxiety, leadership forced into damage control.
Those are resources and hours that should have been focused on Callais, protecting voting rights, and preparing for the midterms.

Rep. Simon: If you look at literally just the past 15 years and what the courts have done—the Roberts Court, this administration, and the elected members of the House and the Senate on the Republican side—I think they’re hellbent on taking us back to a Jim Crow America.
That’s not hyperbole. That’s real.
In terms of erasing representation, gerrymandering neighborhoods and communities lifted up by people of color, we are actually heading right back that way to a time where folks are going to need to march and organize in the streets against and un-elect folks who don’t see the multicultural democracy that is essentially promised to us all.
So it’s time to fight back.
One of the legacies of the Republican Party over the last 70 years will be racism and white supremacy.
And we know that.
We just have to keep working.
