Auto-rickshaw travel in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad may become costlier from August 1, with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) expected to approve a fare revision. Under the proposal, the minimum fare for the first 1.5 km may increase from ₹25 to ₹30, while the per-kilometre charge may rise from ₹17 to ₹20. The proposed hike comes after auto unions sought a revision following the increase in CNG prices. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a ₹167-crore road improvement plan to prepare the city for the upcoming Pune Grand Tour International Cycling Race. Around 130 km of roads across Pune will be repaired and resurfaced to meet international standards, with the work divided into four phases covering areas including Aundh, Baner, Kothrud, Sinhagad Road, Camp, Kondhwa, Mundhwa and Deccan. According to PMC officials, the project aims to ensure world-class road quality for the race while also improving traffic movement for citizens.
