@iam_preethi I’m only surprised at the six year part. My youngest is 12 - I don’t think I’ll ever sleep like I used to

A study of nearly 5,000 parents found that mothers sleep quality stays lower than fathers for up to 6 years after the first baby, even after the child is sleeping through the night. Wild... but I totally believe it. Every mom knows this. After having a baby, your sleep changes. You spend more time in lighter sleep and your brain stays partially alert even while you are asleep. Babies make subtle noises and small movements before they actually cry, and your brain picks up on those and starts waking you before the full cry starts. It almost feels psychic. Once your brain learns to listen for your baby, it does not seem to fully stop.

@sophiemeaden Isn’t there a new program for emergency dentist appointments even for people not registered?

My toothache got so bad to the point it hurts to even swallow water, the left side of my face has ballooned to the point where I look like I’m morbidly obese and I was up all night with a temperature that I have needed to get medical intervention. > Rang the emergency dentist many times and couldn’t even get through > called 111 and was met with “I’m not medically trained enough other than to give you a text message of what you COULD do” > called the doctors and had to say that I have a learning disability in order to even be able to speak with someone. Then was met with “we don’t deal with teeth” despite explaining that I only needed some antibiotics currently as a dentist wouldn’t touch my teeth anyway until the infection cleared and I can’t get help from them. > pharmacy won’t touch me given it’s not classed as a minor infection > ended up going to A&E to then be told I’m better off at another building on site > they have said they MAY be able to prescribe me antibiotics given the severity of the situation but they don’t generally do it due to the same rules as the doctors and now I have to wait to see if I can get them All of these steps could have been avoided if I was already registered under an NHS dentist. Neglecting dentistry services is damaging the entire NHS ecosystem and partly causing wait times to soar. The government seriously needs to address this. There are also people who are not as pushy as myself who would have just given up and likely developed a very serious infection if not treated. The thought that people could be potentially dying of a tooth infection in a first world country is absolutely appalling.

@willysgood @jbillinson Also, I use my phone for things I need, like banking, answering messages an email, audible, Spotify & googling stuff - I brick Instagram and X so I don’t just scroll mindlessly. It’s really been amazing for my productivity.

I’m looking for a genuinely scary book, one that chills your spine. Not a fan of Stephen King–type horror; I’m after something colder, subtler, and more unsettling. The kind of book that creeps in quietly, lingers long after you’ve closed it. Any recommendations?

Listen...I try not to judge. I really do. I have had big Christmases before, but they include all my family. Not just my kids. 110 gifts to each kid is excessive to me. It's a coping mechanism for something you never had, as you explained in your video. This isn't productive and may end up hurting your own kids in the long run. I suggest therapy.

The fact that “bi-weekly” can mean either that something happens EVERY OTHER week or TWICE A WEEK is a major shortcoming of the English language and aught to be accounted for.

I realise comedy is subjective & certain people will find this amusing. But I put it to you that this is nothing to do with comedy. The truth is that there are NO JOKES here. Listen to it. Properly. No satire, no irony, no parody, it’s not observational, it’s not self-deprecating, not slapstick, not surreal, not even dark, as that needs substance. No timing, no concept of delivery, no intelligence, no wisdom, no craft. This is a man, mocking a young girl for being left partially paralysed by another man, who badly injured her, during a sport he had NO BUSINESS participating in. This is simply a man laughing AT that reality. If you cheer this on, you have absolutely lost your moral compass & your humanity. THIS is what true hatred looks like.

Update: Angie’s water just broke at 28 weeks. She’s on strict bed rest so we can keep the baby inside as long as possible. If anyone has experience or success stories with premature births, please share them. I’m trying to stay calm, but I’m honestly scared right now. Please pray for her and the baby

Nowhere in the Bible does it say you are to avoid surgery to the point that your baby dies. There is no moral failing associated with having a body need surgery. I would like to remind everyone that demons have access to our imagination and our emotions.

It is appalling that anyone should choose termination on the grounds of sex, but if we are to be pro choice isn’t it a redundant argument anyway? What I mean is has anyone ever been denied an abortion because of their reasons for doing so? And if women have to justify their choice and some women are denied a termination on the grounds of the motivation for that choice is that the right way of going about it?

All these men in the comments saying they bring their small daughters into the Women's bathroom by announcing "girl dad" and then entering has got to be BS. I have never encountered a dad bringing his daughter into the women's bathroom. I've been in the women's bathroom many times when men in dresses enter, but not once in 'dad mode' and carrying a child. Ladies, have any of you witnessed this phenomenon?
Redhead Ranting™@redheadranting

This thread is blowing my mind for a multitude of reasons. Mostly because of all the women who think it's perfectly acceptable for a man to escort his 3 year old daughter into the women's bathroom - provided he announce it first. Many of whom have been outspoken about keeping transwomen (aka men) out of women's same sex spaces. Secondly - the solution is to bring her into the men's and take her into a stall, like women have done with little boys since public bathrooms became a thing. If that isn't possible, and there are no family bathrooms - which are everywhere these days, my suggestion is to find a mother - a woman with children of her own - and ask her to escort her in. The odds of a random mother suddenly turning into a serial killer or abuser are about 0%. But you also wouldn't choose the mom dragging her kid and slapping her upside the head as the mom to escort her in. You'd choose someone with happy looking kids who were at ease with their mother. If that's not acceptable then do what my dad did when he took my mom out and I didn't tag along. Clear the bathroom so you can go in with her, or clear the men's. This is a made-up problem. We've had the solution since forever. No need to reinvent the wheel.
