A hacker exploited Anthropic's Claude AI to breach multiple Mexican government systems, including the federal tax authority and the national electoral institute. The hacker repeatedly prompted Claude as part of a purported "bug bounty" effort, bypassing safety refusals and obtaining scripts to exploit vulnerabilities. This resulted in the theft of approximately 150 GB of sensitive data, including records on 195 million taxpayers, voter information, government credentials, and civil registry files.

@megalag @PayPal Honey lawsuit looks like nothing burger because judge wants a concrete number on lost revenue and so far the numbers are estimates. It does seem like a difficult thing to calculate, while I do think Honey were abhorrent scumbags.

Esto ocurre solo 24 horas después de haber entrado en vigor la normativa que obliga a registrar todas las líneas móviles en el país. Al ingresar cualquier número telefónico de Telcel en el formulario, el sistema interno devuelve —sin necesidad de contraseñas ni códigos de verificación— un paquete de información completo del titular de la línea. Esto es sumamente peligroso. Cualquier ciberdelincuente podría usar alguna de las bases de números de Telcel y automatizar la extracción masiva de información.

Things from todays stream: 1. honey does appear to have a JS-in-JS interpreter, which is violation of V3 rules... they should be disabled in Chrome extension store 2. honey most certainly filters out users with "test" 3. they most certainly use user points and other various metrics to either stand down or not. 4. they use adblock age as a means to block brand new users with standdown logic 5. i couldnt find much about the cookie stuffing stuff, but i did not pursue it at all. overall, they definitely are using user points, account age, and whether you are logged in to make determination about showing up, not respecting the stand down. they make it on specific companies too. seems VERY sus.

I'm not taking away from the Windows hate because this stuff is bad, but developers love thinking computers are made for them specifically not for the masses and then get angry when things like this happen. For every person searching for "terminal" 9 times out of 10, they're most likely looking for something that isn't the actual terminal app for their machine.
