Most people taking GLP-1s unintentionally under-eat protein because their appetite is so suppressed. And without the right strategy, you can lose more muscle than you need to. The clinical data points to three key levers to maintain muscle mass: 1. Protein intake. Aim for 1.0–1.5 g/kg/day. In one 12-week study, GLP-1 users who hit these targets with exercise lost 7.4 kg with zero fat-free mass loss. 2. Resistance training. Research shows that without strength training, extra protein just gets stored as fat. Aim for 2-3x/week covering major muscle groups. 3. Track your body composition. A DEXA scan before starting (and periodically during) gives you real data on whether your approach is working. The bottom line: GLP-1 muscle loss is real but manageable, especially if you’re proactive. instalab.com/glp1

Absolutely. Most people don't realize how much sleep affects fat / muscle loss. In research, cutting sleep from 8.5 hours to 5.5 hours per night during calorie-restricted diet reduced fat loss by 55% and increased lean mass loss by 60%. More hunger; less fat oxidation: acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/00…

Repatha (evolocumab) is far more powerful than statins alone. When added on top of statin therapy, it can lower LDL cholesterol by ~60% and reduce major cardiovascular events by ~15%. As its price tag continues to drop, we’re excited to see how many lives this medication will save.

Your APOE genotype plays a critical role in how your brain processes fats and repairs neurons. Each of us inherits two copies of this gene, one from each parent, and the specific combination we carry (ε2, ε3, or ε4) can influence how our brains age over time. Certain APOE variants, such as ε4, are linked to a higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease. But your genes do not necessarily determine your destiny. Many people with ε4 alleles never develop dementia, especially when they take proactive steps to protect their brain: - Regular moderate-to-vigorous physical activity - Mediterranean-style diet - Quality time with family and friends - Consistent, high-quality sleep - Avoid smoking - Limit alcohol intake - Manage risk factors like blood pressure and apoB Understanding your genotype empowers you to take control of your brain health and make informed, preventive choices. If you’d like to learn more about your APOE status, schedule a blood test today: instalab.com/test/apoe

If you're 40 or older and haven't had a CAC scan, get one. It's the most definitive way to see how much plaque has already clogged your heart's arteries. ApoB predicts future risk. CAC reveals existing risk. instalab.com/cac

One of the most egregious examples of paid-for politicians forcibly holding back a wildly beneficial technology to protect corporate interests. It is an affront to freedom, stripping citizens of the option to spare animals and the environment in their meat consumption.

So-called "lab-grown meat" has no place in Montana. By signing HB 401 into law, I am proud to defend our way of life and the hardworking Montana ranchers who produce the best beef in the world.

Personal/Work Update! I'm joining @generalcatalyst as a Managing Director to lead seed in the US. Over the past five years I've been incredibly fortunate to partner with some incredible founders while building out Wayfinder. At the same time, I believe the opportunity presented by partnering with GC can have an even larger impact on the startup ecosystem. Of all the larger, full-stack investors I’ve met over the years, GC seems to truly appreciate how important it is to do seed in a focused manner, and NOT as an option call on a future Series A. We'll be putting all of the resources of the GC platform (and some unique things for seed founders — stay tuned!) on day one. The world is changing fast, and it has never been a better time to start a startup. If you're working on something new, no matter how early, I'd love to chat!
Hemant Taneja@htaneja

Today, I am really excited to announce that Yuri Sagalov (@yuris) is joining @generalcatalyst as a Managing Director to lead our seed efforts in the US. I have often said that our core at GC is early stage investing. Partnering with the most ambitious founders at seed enables us to fulfill our own ambition to transform industries. Yuri founded Wayfinder Ventures and has backed incredible companies like Supabase, Verse Medical, Stoke Space, Decagon, Finni Health and many more. Previously, he spent 5 years at @ycombinator as a Visiting Group Partner and served seed stage founders with real passion. At GC, we have been striving to back founders at Seed with the same rigor, focus and passion as smaller firms who dedicate to seed as their only focus. We are keen to continue to partner with them as we improve. I feel really fortunate that Yuri (Wayfinder), Jeannette (La Famiglia) and Neeraj (Venture Highway) as founders of seed firms have all decided to bring their entrepreneurial energy to shape our seed value proposition at GC to be what the world's best founders deserve from a company like ours. Our seed proposition is to help founders figure out their business in the midst of uncertainty and ambiguity, and lay the foundation to endure for the long term. Seed is NOT an option call for future series A, nor is it the phase to impose undue governance - it's a time to lock arms with founders to inspire talent to join, tackle the highest risks and build conviction to make it their life's work. One important call out about our seed proposition going forward is that we aim to consistently do pro rata in the next financing after leading or co-leading a seed so that we eliminate any "signalling risk". Yuri - Welcome to GC and thanks for helping us continue to get better at our core.

Don't do this. No matter how much you dislike Trump, don't do this. Half the people in America voted for Trump. If you think voting for Trump makes people evil, then you have to believe half the people in America are evil, and that's just deluded.
