@JackPosobiec Yes! Americans are mandated to lose an hour of sleep tonight for no practical benefit. Restore permanent Standard Time and end the clock changes!
@SouthwestAir why aren’t you deplaning passengers at BWI using stairs? My kids is sitting on the BWI runway missing here 8th grade DC trip. You really don’t have a safe way to get passengers off planes if the power goes out?
Fast Food is a part of American culture. But that doesn’t mean it has to be unhealthy, and that we can’t make better choices. Did you know that McDonald’s used to use beef tallow to make their fries from 1940 until phasing it out in favor of seed oils in 1990? This switch was made because saturated animal fats were thought to be unhealthy, but we have since discovered that seed oils are one of the driving causes of the obesity epidemic. Interestingly enough, this began to drastically rise around the same time fast food restaurants switched from beef tallow to seed oils in their fryers.
People who enjoy a burger with fries on a night out aren’t to blame, and Americans should have every right to eat out at a restaurant without being unknowingly poisoned by heavily subsidized seed oils. It’s time to Make Frying Oil Tallow Again 🇺🇸🍔
Angle of the sun. If you are too far north of equator, you are not getting enough direct sunlight angle to synthesize Vit D from sunshine alone. Here in the Midwest I advise patients to take D3 supplement starting on the first day of fall, and they can stop May 1st. So long as they get good sun exposure each day and synthesize it properly. I personally take a supplement daily regardless, and I am outdoors a lot during the summer riding motorcycles so my levels run upper 90’s to low 100’s in summer and upper 70’s to low 80’s during winter months.
VITAMIN D LIES: I'm seeing natural health advocates now suggesting "optimal" Vitamin D serum levels are 18 to 24 ng/mL.
This is hogwash. Several large studies show decreased cancer risk, better health at levels over 55 ng/mL.
Nature knows best: in sun-rich environments where cultural practices don't prevent sun exposure, circulating 25(OH)D (Vitamin D) ranges from 54–90 ng/mL. Lifeguards were measured to have an average of 64 ng/mL.
We'd be wise to aspire to these levels & test our D level regularly.
Phish fans existential concert crisis: To tarp, or not to tarp?
This needs to stop! I ran into some tarpers at Lake Tahoe and they really soured the scene. @phish #phishwsj.com/articles/phish…
