The professor and the pendulums. We know what will happen when one pendulum swings. But two? 'Oxford Mathematicians and their Toys', episode three, starring @jon_ox (and the pendulums).

Have you ever done a dense grid search over neural network hyperparameters? Like a *really dense* grid search? It looks like this (!!). Blueish colors correspond to hyperparameters for which training converges, redish colors to hyperparameters for which training diverges.

Marvelously rich, detailed article by @jordanacep about the quest to prove the Mandelbrot set is “locally connected” — the deepest unsolved problem about the world’s most famous fractal. quantamagazine.org/the-quest-to-d…

In 1890, Henri Poincaré proved the non-existence of the uniform first integral of the three-body problem and the sensitive dependence to initial conditions of its trajectories. Yet, stable solutions to it do exist and these are some of them. pic.twitter.com/haECKnWsfp

I don't think I've ever said "Very, very, VERY exciting!" before, but John Dabiri of @Caltech got me saying it at 29:14 in this podcast. Listen in to see why! I promise you'll love this episode. It's a special one. quantamagazine.org/what-can-jelly…
