About 2 or 3 years ago, I tweeted out, who has a good accountant? We got 300 people who replied. I thought it’d be cool to call 300 of these accountants and create a website where we just list them all and get all the information about who they are, their rates, speciality, etc…and let people leave reviews. I didn’t wanna do all the calling. There was a woman, @NotGoKGreen, who replied and said she would do it. Fast forward to today. She is the majority owner of a website called Sam's List, which is where business owners can find a good accountant. It’s on track to do half a million in revenue this year. She was living in Georgia at the time and recently dropped everything to move to New York. I love when people go all in on building!

Sam's List just got featured in the Dallas Morning News. 🤯 We published a report on small business bankruptcies and Dallas-Fort Worth came in #1 in the country. 4.42 bankruptcies per 1,000 small businesses. 638 filings total. The irony is that DFW has been one of the biggest economic boom towns in America. But that rapid growth from 2020-2023 pulled in more small business activity than the economy could absorb. A lot of operators set up during the boom and are now hitting their first real downturn at the same time. Texas metros actually claimed 4 of the top 10 spots: Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, and Austin. Seeing our data cited in a major publication feels SURREAL! Walked up to a guy in my gym I knew I knew him but couldn't figure out from where Being a founder in new york, especially one that posts a lot on social media, a lot of people i've met and become friends with come from this little bubble We start talking, throwing out guesses, and can't figure out the connection for 5 minutes Turns out we met 2 years ago in Las Vegas at a Real Estate/Fintech conference, with booths right next to each other He was living in Los Angeles, I was living in Atlanta Now we're both living in New York, doing the complete opposite of Fintech, and working out at the same gym
