‼️ ATTENTION ALABAMA ‼️ 🚨 Serious Concerns Raised Over Meta’s 4,500-Acre Solar Project in Stockton, Alabama That Endangers Alabama’s Ecosystem And Wildlife 🚨 The Tech Bros are at it again with their political and climate change hypocrisy. Now Mark Zuckerberg @finkd @Meta is trying to destroy “Alabama’s Amazon”. Meta Platforms, through their partner Silicon Ranch, is advancing a 4,500-acre solar farm in Stockton, Baldwin County, Alabama, to supply renewable energy to its AI data center more than 150 miles away near Montgomery, Alabama. The Alabama Public Service Commission approved the project in late 2025, and it appears to have been fast tracked. A public town hall is scheduled for this evening at 6:30 p.m. CST at the Stockton Civic Center in Stockton, Alabama where community members will seek answers on site selection, mitigation measures, and long-term impacts. As someone who spends a lot of time in Alabama and cares about protecting animals, wildlife and their natural habitats, this bothers me. The site borders the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, one of the nation’s most ecologically significant and biodiverse regions, often called “Alabama’s Amazon” for its rich biodiversity, supporting hundreds of species of fish, birds, and mammals. It offers extensive recreational opportunities like canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and hunting via the Bartram Canoe Trail system.  It features high-quality wetlands, critical habitat for federally protected species including the gopher tortoise and Swainson’s warbler, and extensive wildlife corridors. See photos of these animals below. 👇🏻 The Mobile-Tensaw River Delta is Alabama's largest wetland, the second-largest river delta in the U.S., and a National Natural Landmark, featuring a vast network of rivers, creeks, and swamps that create a highly diverse ecosystem. It is home to over 300 bird species, numerous rare and endangered plants and animals, and a wide variety of fish, including bass, crappie, and redfish. Environmental advocates and members of the community are outraged over the decision by Meta to locate this major development in such a sensitive area when less biodiverse, more suitable sites exist much closer to the Meta AI data center in Montgomery. The clearing of thousands of acres risks significant harm to wetlands, wildlife, and the broader ecosystem through land disturbance, sedimentation, runoff, and exposure to severe weather. The cons of building this AI Data center outweighs the renewable energy gains. What’s most interesting though is how contradictory this decision is to Meta’s public commitments to environmental stewardship and climate advocacy. The apparent disconnect between corporate sustainability rhetoric and the project’s ecological footprint has raised serious concerns among residents, conservationists, and those who prioritize both renewable energy and the protection of irreplaceable natural ecosystems and endangered species. Can large-scale renewable projects genuinely advance sustainability if they come at the cost of our most valuable remaining natural landscapes? This is a big act of hypocrisy from Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have invested heavily in environmental protection, focusing on carbon removal technologies and ocean conservation through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) and personal philanthropy. They have pledged $44 million for carbon removal research and $50 million for Hawaii ocean conservation, while targeting net-zero emissions for Meta by 2030.  What difference does this make if they are going to destroy valuable ecosystems? A very happy 85th birthday to my dad, Attallah Amash! My dad is kind, generous, intelligent, funny, and, above all, devoted to his family. He was born to a family of Orthodox Christians residing in the cities of Ramle and Lod, neighboring cities just southeast of Jaffa and Tel Aviv. In 1948, Israeli forces expelled them from their homes. Some of his cousins made their way to Gaza (where they live to this day), but my dad’s immediate family (after several years of transience) were blessed to find a new home in America. It’s from my refugee father that I learned what it means to be an American. He didn’t let his difficult upbringing or limited schooling stand in the way of his dreams. In America, anything was possible, and he worked tirelessly to lift himself and his family out of poverty. To my dad, though, true success was not what he achieved in business but rather what he achieved as a father—that he had children who did not have to face the challenges he faced, who did not take this life for granted, and who loved God and each other. When I was in Congress, I thought often about how surreal it must feel for my dad, a once poor Palestinian boy with no shoes and no hope, who now had a son serving in one of the highest offices in the land—having been elected by the West Michigan community that had adopted my dad so many years ago. It was possible only in America. His incredible life is a testament to the beauty and brilliance of the United States and to the power and value of liberty—an ideal that has shaped our Constitution and our culture. I’ll never stop fighting for America. Happy birthday, Dad. I love you.

@RealSpikeCohen When my brother passed from cancer in 2007, I had a recurring dream of him for 7 days - letting me know he was ok. My maternal grands, my dad, and brother often stop by in my dreams. Mom hasn't visited yet, but she did send a message thru FB messenger.

Dad made a surprise appearance in a dream I had. I was at my hotel suite getting ready to attend an event, and he came in, said he needed to stay with me, and started getting ready too. I was like "well ok, I guess I can sleep on the couch..." He was about 30 years younger, back in his 50s, the age he was when I was a kid. He told me how proud he was of me and what he planned to do at the event. Then I went off on some side quest trying to find someone I needed to talk to before the event started. Anyway it was nice seeing him. I hope to get more nice visits like that. Miss you, Dad.

There’s a certain type of individual who calls themselves a libertarian but spends all their time running cover for the Republican Party. Not joining it outright—because that would at least be honest—but working to dissolve any real opposition in favor of the same GOP machine that has spent decades crushing liberty. They tell LP affiliates not to run candidates against “liberty republicans.” They insist we should step aside for those who’ve spent a lot of money to be “popular.” They argue that we should make nice with the GOP because we might get a seat at the table. But power doesn’t hand out favors—it consolidates. And those pushing this narrative aren’t interested in fighting the system; they’re interested in being useful to it. The Republican Party doesn’t give anyone a platform. It absorbs them, repackages them, and discards them the moment they’re inconvenient. The individuals cozying up to the GOP aren’t influencing anything—they’re being influenced. They aren’t shaping the party; they’re being reshaped by it. Some do it for the money, eager to cash in on a movement they once pretended to believe in. Some do it for clout, desperate for attention and validation from those in power. And some do it out of sheer ego, convincing themselves they’re playing some grand strategic game when in reality, they’re just another cog in the machine. And for what? A few retweets from politicians who wouldn’t even defend their gun rights? A couple of speaking gigs at conservative conferences where they’re tolerated, not respected? A brief moment of relevance before they’re discarded for someone more obedient? The ones who bend over for the uniparty aren’t playing chess—they are the pieces being moved. And when the game is over, they won’t be the ones left standing.
