Some really concerning funding cuts in Carney's budget (CRA, Indigenous relations, Canada Post, Public Works, CBC) but what stuck out to me as a transit nerd is: -50.2% cuts to "VIA Rail Canada Inc." +19% boost to "VIA HFR - VIA TGF Inc" (High Frequency Rail)

@kdrcampbell @danielfoch A ton of these aren't actually cuts. Canada Post looks like a 99% cut because they got a bailout last year. The CRA looks like a 41% cut because the carbon tax got scrapped so 4.15B in rebates won't pass through anymore.

@connor__peters Just be careful reviewing this: for example CRA isn't facing a 41% cut at all - that comes from Carney scrapping the carbon tax. The carbon tax rebates were administered by the CRA as a middleman, so it looks like a 4.1B cut on the books even tho it would just pass through.

@jasonmgood @mathladyhazel That still doesn't invalidate 20 as an answer. If you allow that the cuts can be of any length and the pieces can be of any size then the result set becomes infinite. I could say for example I chipped off a corner with a cut 1/10 the length of the original cut and answer 11.

@mathladyhazel Leta say the board is square. After it’s cut in half, if you rotate one of the halves, it would be 50% shorter and therefore take half as long to cut. This is me trying to make this make sense when it doesn’t.
