Islamist militants terrorize Syrian Christians, as an elderly man in Hama watches his livelihood destroyed. Any word of condemnation from @MarkJCarney or @GiorgiaMeloni or @EmmanuelMacron? Of course not. None of them actually give a shit about Christians. That much is abundantly clear. They simply virtue signal to their Islamist paymasters and condemn Israel.

Dear Madam VP of the European Commission, I find your concern about Christians curious. In the nearly 17 years since creating your X account, you have not once tweeted about any church — until today. To make matters even more odd, you have never tweeted about Christians at all. So why the sudden concern over a minor incident involving Christians in a distant country — one with warm relations with the Christian community — an incident already being addressed by local authorities, who have committed to ensuring it won't happen again? What, exactly, are you trying to achieve here?

The decision by Israeli police to bar Jerusalem’s Latin Patriarch from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Palm Sunday constitutes a violation of religious freedom and long-standing protections governing holy sites. Freedom of worship in Jerusalem must be fully guaranteed, without exception, for all faiths. Jerusalem’s multi-religious character must be protected.

Mr. Prime Minister, I find your disappointment curious. In the 15.5 years since creating your X account, you have not once tweeted the word "Christian" — until today. You've used the plural, "Christians," three times, but only in the past year since becoming Prime Minister, and only to wish people happy holidays. Never to voice concern about the persecution of Christians anywhere on earth. You have never tweeted the word "church" or "churches" even once. So why the concern over a minor incident involving Christians in a distant country — one with warm relations with the Christian community — an incident already being addressed by local authorities, who have committed to ensuring it won't happen again? What, exactly, are you trying to achieve here?

I am disappointed with the decision by the Israeli police to prevent the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Christian Communities of the Holy Land from marking Palm Sunday at the Holy Sepulchre.    These actions further violate the longstanding status quo of Jerusalem’s Holy Sites. People of every faith in Jerusalem should be able to worship freely, fully, and without fear. I am pleased that President Herzog has contacted the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, to reaffirm this.

I don’t need protection as I’m a big girl. Pointing out an antisemitic trope from the pen of a politician leading what is about to become an officially racist party isn’t me needing help but them. Jew hatred is ruining the Greens.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

Hilarious. She’s allowed to go after a Jewish politician via his family but if he goes after her suddenly she’s a Jewish journalist needing protection. The reason they hate @ZackPolanski is that they can’t Corbynize him because he is a Jewish politician who criticizes Israel.

Daily Mail journalists aren’t going after your family (as you are aware, there is more we could write if we were). I’m a freelance journalist who spoke to your family members who are frightened by the Jew hate in your party. They are frightened by what you have given the green light to. While you once fought Jew hatred, now you indulge it because, as we both see, it is popular. Other political groups have discovered this in the past. Shame on you @ZackPolanski Shame on you.
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

This is why Daily Mail journalists are going after my family now. The right wing propaganda machine will not work on the Green Party. We're ready to end Rip Off Britain, end the cost of living crisis and make hope normal again.

a) Fracking started in the suburbs of Dallas - the idea it only works in the US because of space is nonsense. b) If you are so sure it won't work, why ban it? c) Downing Street analysis, such as it exists, has a history of economic illiteracy. d) Your anti fracking decision has directly contributed to Mississippi leapfrogging the UK in terms of per capital output.

There. Is. No. Global. Price. For. Gas. How often do you need to be told this? What’s the Henry Hub price today? What’s the UK price today? Are they the same … or even close? Let me tell you, for April 2026 contracts. Henry Hub, right now: $2.87/MMBtu UK NBP right now: $16.79/MMBtu So UK prices are 5.8x US prices. I don’t like calling people liars but you must know this, so what else is there to say?

She's blocked me so will remain ignorant. There's no global price of gas - UK & EU prices are ~6X those of the US. Wind is expensive, mineral intensive & intermittent which is why we have the most expensive industrial electricity prices in the developed world. @RenewableUKCEO

Richard, "these are the only facts that matter" isn't a defence of your argument. It's an admission you can't deal with the rest. You say the EU is outperforming the UK. On what measure, over what timeframe, and against which shocks? The eurozone has just come through a period in which its largest economy, Germany, has flatlined for years. France is running chronic deficits and facing record business failures. Italy has barely grown for a decade. That's not a bloc powering ahead. It's a bloc managing decline at scale. As for Brexit's economic effect, the claim that it's "negative" rests heavily on models and counterfactuals: what economists think might have happened under different conditions. That's not the same as observed reality. The UK has faced Covid, an energy shock driven by war in Europe, and global inflation at the same time. Untangling Brexit from those factors isn't something you can do with a slogan. More to the point, you keep dodging the central issue. Even if your economic case were stronger than it is, it would not answer the question of mandate. The country voted to leave. The current government is now moving, step by step, to re-align with EU law without putting that choice back to the electorate. You can argue for rejoining. That's a legitimate political position. What you cannot do is pretend that reversing a referendum result without asking the public again is a technical adjustment rather than a political decision. That's the point you keep avoiding. And it's the only one that actually matters.

The Trafalgar Square Iftar was organised by Omar Salha. He backs the extreme UK CAGE. Their research director said Jihadi John was a "beautiful young man." Starmer PULLED OUT of a 2021 Iftar because Salha was there. But he now says it's "utterly appalling" to criticise the Trafalgar event Salha organised?

For a number of years, more than 20 years ago, I worked for a Pakistani owned business and lived in a Muslim dominated area of Manchester. I understand why Nick feels this way, and those railing against it in the name of diversity are ignoring that Islam is aggressively intolerant of other religions. I have many years of personal experience with both immigrant and British born Pakistanis. There was no real difference. Islam is the one true faith and all others are "kafir". It's a far more exclusive religion than others, there is no interest in diversity of faith. You are Muslim, or you are "kafir". This was highlighted to me on the day of 9/11. It was early in the morning, around 9am, and cheers started echoing down the corridors. Word started to spread and they were all grinning and clapping each other on the backs. These were men and women born and raised here for the most part. The owner wheeled in a big CRT TV and 30-40 of them gathered around BBC news laughing and cheering like Pakistan were in the cricket world cup final. It is not hard to see why large public prayers by followers of a religion perceived as hostile to your very existence can feel less like worship and more like an assertion of dominance. I'm sure there are many good, tolerant Muslim people in this country who mix Western ideals with the muslim faith. People that consider themselves British among all else. But I learned that day that there are less than you think.
Nick Timothy MP@NJ_Timothy

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

Rubbish. Every day my feed is full of your nonsense Renewables are MORE EXPENSIVE than gas for electricity generation And electricity is only 20% of UK energy consumption The best ways to cut energy costs are 1. Abolish the carbon taxes 2. Cancel AR7 onwards 3. Cancel the RO 4. Restructure AR1-6 to lower costs 5. Rebuild N Sea production 6. Build more refineries 7. Build large nuclear as fast as possible using Korean tech and Korean regulation as a guide 8. Cut fuel duty 9. Cancel any grid upgrades and close any windfarms with negative NPV for consumers 10. Sign LT Fixed Price gas contracts with Norway, the US and Qatar (diversify supply)

A Lib Dem Baroness just said in the Lords that anyone saying the anti-Muslim hostility definition is a Muslim blasphemy law by the back door is spreading dangerous disinformation. Since that's a criminal offence under the Online Safety Act, is she saying anyone who claims the AMH definition poses a threat free speech should be prosecuted? 🤔
