The IFS is completely incapable of grasping the concept that reducing taxes can actually increase revenue because it incentivises production instead of penalising it. Make work too expensive and enterprise unrewarding and levels of both reduce.
If overtime was paid at half pay, would anybody do it? Of course not. Yet that’s how our income tax system works. 🤦♂️

We've had the same thing for 25 years: higher taxes, low growth, and struggling public services. It's time for a different approach.
